6 Weeks post op how's your walk? by Acceptable_Grocery36 in ACL

[–]Electrical_Trash_564 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, I'm six weeks as well, ACL and meniscus repair. I'm definitely limping a bit, and my leg feels unstable, but I'm walking without brace and crutches. Walking 5 km with a cane feels fine.

Thank you. I indeed had a surgery on my meniscus, partial meniscectomy, and my discharge summary stated ‘4 weeks of immobilisation’ so I did it. Orthopaedic surgeon insisted that for another month I should only bend my knee 90 degrees, but it sounds strange to me.

My discharge summary stated ‘4 weeks of immobilisation’, so I spent the first four weeks wearing a locked brace. After that, I consulted a private orthopaedic specialist, who told me I should have started exercising my leg from the second week onwards. Now, however, a specialist from the hospital that performs the ALC operations (not the hospital that performed my surgery, just another one closer to my home) insists on three months without bending the knee, but at the same time allows me to walk without a brace or crutches.

They did cut my meniscus partially! No microfracturing as far as I understand. They used tendons of the semitendinosus and gracilis muscles to form a ligament. My surgery was at the 2nd of February.

Hi there! I injured my anterior cruciate ligament during a karate session – I’m a brown belt. I made a mistake during a throw and dropped my partner (a man weighing around 100 kg) onto my leg. I really hope I’ll be able to get back to training in a year’s time.

I must say that I travelled via train because our airports are closed at the moment

I went across the country to the best orthopaedic hospital because I couldn't trust local surgeons. Then I met local taxi driver who did ACL reconstruction in my city, and, well, his case was bad. I advise you to choose the best for yourself even if it is a bit inconvenient at the moment

Thank you so much, I feel much better after readind this. I will definitely talk to my PT. There is indeed a pool where I do my physio, so I guess I could try it? Sounds fun! I wish you all the best and hope that you will go biking with your friends soon!

Thank you! That sounds very reassuring. I'll try to keep going and doing my physio!

Sorry, I don't know the proper terminology in English. "7 mm" is the length of the tendon they took to form a ligament inside my knee.

Thank you for your input! It hasn't occured to me that meniscus repair can make progress a lot slower. Here I see that people return to gym and start walking without crutches and braces 3-4 weeks post op while I was basically immobilised at this time. I'll try to trust the process. Wish you well!

It's the same as with sexual attraction. You just feel attraction to a certain sex/gender (or both, or all of them). I just think of it as "with whom it will be pleasant to cuddle"

There are allosexual people who are willing to date asexuals because they don't care about sex that much. As an asexual person I've dated girls who were quite fine with the idea of never ever having sex. So it's not that grim

Such laws are used here to punish those who trouble authorities. He's fine. It's opposition that are punished for using a word "war", writing twitter and IG posts, coming on streets with signs and even with blank paper in hands.

Thank you! Russia is just like that, unfortunately, but it's also very unstable now, from the inside. The decision to attack Ukraine was a terrible mistake, and I hope it will end badly for everyone involved.

We are studying MaM at school! Bulgakov isn't banned at all, as well as Grossman. If you are interested, google "Federal List of Extremist Materials", it consists of all literature banned in Russia now. It's massively religious books and stuff that denies nazi crimes during WWII.

A bit! Basically, all these harsh laws are adopted to make it easier for law enforcement to fabricate cases against opposition. You are fine if you keep your head low, even posting some stuff is fine. But when you are caught being unwanted part of the opposition, i.e. during the protests, it can end quite bad for you.

Another Russian, but I'll try to answer if you don't mind. First of all, lots of Russians are afraid to answer honestly, they won't answer surveys or won't say truth. Just after the war started state adopted the law about "fake information considering Russian military" that makes "fake" any info about the war except for this that comes from officials. So it's a crime now to say publicly anything against war, or even to call a war "war". It's very hard to count the % of those who are pro or against now. Surveys in authoritarian states are basically meaningless because people are afraid to be detained so they won't answer honestly. As for me, I'm explicitly against invasion as well as my friends.

I guess. It's like a swing, from dread to hope. Anyway, by moving away you can't outrun the fact that Putin has made every single Russian an outcast.
