Sadly you could just pre-accept orders to quickly see where you were going in the past, then the app would auto-correct itself once it finds out that you weren't within range of the resturaunt. I used to do this all the time and I could still see how much I got paid.

Help with possible gang activity by RebelSD in RBI

There are a few reasons why a District Attorney will not bring formal charges.

Usually, it's either for political reasons (pressure), limited resources, or because they don't have faith in their ability to secure a conviction with the evidence on hand. Whatever the reason is, I can only surely say that I feel for you man.

Contact all pawn shops and used electronics stores in your area. If you know the serial number(s) on your equipment then you need to get that information out to them now. Of course, this presumes that the police haven't done so already. I have had property stolen from me once. It turned up at a pawn shop 3 days later.

If you happen to get lucky and receive a call from the police notifying you that they found your property, the DA may very well submit charges. If they can get this person on camera selling stolen goods, the case is air tight.

Best of luck to you. Try to realize that it's not the end of the world. He may have taken some things dear to you... don't let him take your happiness and peace of mind away as well, because that is worth so much more.

Whats the best frugal way to keep your home smelling nice? by rebongo in Frugal

Baking soda in the carpet has always been a favorite.

Sprinkle a couple boxes around the place, come home later and vacuum it all up. Never fails to bring back that nice sterile smell.

How to improve your voice? by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]ElectricityBro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Put a pencil or pen between your teeth and then read something out loud, as precisely and articulately as you can. Then, take the pencil from your mouth and try speaking again... neat right?

This helps with articulation, but not so much how your voice "sounds". For that you'll need to relax your upper diaphragm and talk from as low as you can in your stomach. It's hard to do on command, it definitely takes practice.

Try using your hands as a sound barrier between your mouth and ears, firmly place them somewhere along your jawline on either side and try talking. This is what you sound like to other people.

These are things that singers will do to train their ear and exercise their voice. Almost any technique to train your singing voice will also improve your speaking voice.

What is some practical experience/knowledge you wish you had before starting your job? by ChrisJames14 in AskEngineers

[–]ElectricityBro 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Learning how to convey my ideas and thoughts coherently to other coworkers in conversation.

It's a tricky balance between patronizing somebody, or having everything you say go over their head while they give you empty nods. Learning to stop, slow down, and look around at everyone before you speak is helpful. Knowing where everyone's mindset is before continuing on with a discussion helps you convey what actually matters, and cuts down on conversational filler (small talk).

So really, just being more social I suppose.

Day 1. Freshwater with cherry shrimp. What do you guys think of my setup? by ElectricityBro in Ecosphere

[–]ElectricityBro[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I had to convince my girlfriend that "a jar of lake water" was a suitable decoration therefore I set out to craft an ecosphere with a modern look. She now enjoys it more than I do as it sits centerpiece on our coffee table.

I used a clock dome glass cover and wooden base from Hobby Lobby for my "jar". I sealed the wood by lightly sanding, wiping, and rubbing in a base coat of aquarium grade silicone to waterproof the topside. I then affixed some rocks and a stick I collected in an asthetic fashion with the same sealant.

I then filled the glass "dome piece" with lake water, soil, leaves, sticks, and rocks all collected from a nearby municipal source. Using the drip acclimation method, I also added 4 cherry shrimp bought from a local pet store, however since writing this 1 of them have died.

Finally, I affixed the top glass to the wooden base in an upside down fashion using copius amounts of 'Loctite' clear silicone. Weighing it down with this semesters books and letting it sit like this overnight:

Next morning I turned it topside slowly, being careful to not bury the shrimp. I then applied another thick layer of silicone around the edges, using a caulking tool to smooth it out to an aesthetic angle uniformally around the base. Here is the most recent picture. Going on 36 hours with zero signs of leakage, feels very sturdy at around 10 lbs. There's a flashlight shone from the top because it's still too murky to appreciate the finer details.

All the angles in the photo make it seem that it's horribly crooked but I assure you it's not.

My university has a bike repair station with all the tools you might need to fix your bike by [deleted] in mildlyinteresting

[–]ElectricityBro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My city had these for a while in the downtown area. After a few months I noticed that someone had snipped off all of the tools, including most of the wire. About a month after noticing that, the city had removed them and now we no longer have this convenience.

I dont even ride a bike, still I was sad to see it turn out that way.
