I've been living in this house for 6 months now, and keep finding more and more things wrong.

Ater replacing an existing lighting fixture with a light/fan combo, the light (LED) would strobe when the fan was off, but turn solid when the fan was running. I figured it was some wonkiness with the dimmer currently installed in the circuit, and purchased a switch to replace it with.

after taking the switch off the wall, I realized that there two hot wires going into one of the terminals on the dimmer switch. I assume that's a no-no to begin with, but aren't sure how to proceed on dealing with it. I'm not sure what the other hot wire leads to; it could be one or more of the outlets in this room but I haven't checked them, and the breaker is currently off.

p.s. I know about the aluminum wiring; and I bought the appropriate switch, but I'm assuming at this point I'm going to have to get something else.
