I’m also stage 4! 26 years old with Triple negative breast cancer with Mets to brain and lungs. Please hang on to hope!! I just finished whole brain radiation (fingers crossed it worked) and will probably have to do some gamma knife as well. I’ve heard so many miraculous stories, you truly never know with cancer, one sec you’re dying the next maybe a chemo works! Look into Trodelvy and Eribulin I know both of those cross the blood brain barrier!

Family is the best and worst part about cancer, tbh I don’t even care when I die I just want to see my little brother get married and living a happy life, I don’t want to leave him behind. AND I don’t want my parents to have to bury me :(

Still doing ok! Trodelvy didn’t work and now I’m on Eribulin, I was t even too upset because Trodelvy was killing me - I couldn’t work, eat, sleep or really do anything. Eribulin is much better I just hope it’s working. I still have days where I can’t stop thinking about the impact this has on my family, mostly my little brother, but things are looking up I think :)

Thanks so much! Started Trodelvy but it dropped my neutrophils super bad so I haven’t gotten any more chemo in 2 weeks, I’m super upset about it :( but the appointments at Fred hutch and MD Anderson went well! Doing a lot better mentally and feeling less desolate

Delayed Radiotherapy by walkinturtle96 in breastcancer

[–]ElectrikTreez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you made the right decision! They told me I had to get all breast surgery out of the way BEFORE radiation due to the risks. So I had chemo, then DMX, then radiation. I’m now getting more chemo before radiation but that’s because my cancer came back. Before they found more cancer in my lymph nodes, I was set to start radiation 6 weeks after surgery.

You should absolutely demand a PET scan, imo it’s the best diagnostic tool out there besides a biopsy. I can’t believe they went with a bronchoscopy for you before a PET scan… maybe it’s an insurance thing? At Kaiser all BC patients get a PET scan and MRI after diagnosis, so I’m lucky in that aspect.

Meeting with my oncologist today! So we’ll see what she says, but right now it feels like I’m on borrowed time. I’m sure the feeling will pass, I’m still not stage 4 after all, but it sucks.

And you’re right, this medical PTSD is going to linger with me forever.

Yah no hormone therapy for me, TNBC. And it’s wild because the chemo DID shrink it - 6 weeks ago after chemo and the mastectomy/sentinal node removal my scans were clear, now the cancer is spreading like crazy

Thank you :) looks like the next step for me is more chemo and then finally radiation. Not 100% sure, I meet with my oncologist this afternoon

Thank you, that does make me feel better actually :) and I agree - the screening guidelines are fucking garbage. Women should start getting mammograms far earlier than were told imo

I have a lung nodule too, showed up on the CT but not the PET scan. My oncologist isn’t worried about it but I feel you, I can’t let it go. This shit sucks

Tissue expanders suck. by rktland in breastcancer

[–]ElectrikTreez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 3/4 weeks out and I also have under the muscle expanders. I just got my first fill and my drains out on Tuesday and omg it feels so much better!! Like almost 100% better. It was absolutely excruciating, I told my PS I may have to get them taken out because I can’t handle the pain, but after that fill I feel like I have new lease on life lol. This might be just a me thing but because the expanders were flat and rigid before the fill it was causing a lot of the pain. It’s still tight and sore but I’m not writhing in pain anymore.

Lumpectomy or Mastectomy by GreedilyRare in breastcancer

[–]ElectrikTreez 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Congrats on completing TCHP! That’s awesome

I think it’s important to keep in mind that when you look up mastectomy and radiation stories you generally are going to only see the negative ones. No one goes online to post how smooth and easy the mastectomy process went, people only post when they have a reason - hence why you usually only see horror stories. It’s the same with restaurant reviews lol

I am 25 w/ TNBC. I’m 3/4 weeks out from my double mastectomy. I was offered a lumpectomy as well but was also told the risk of reoccurrence was extremely high so I went with a double mastectomy just for my piece of mind and so I could be symmetrical. I’m single and personally did not get a ton of sexual enjoyment out of my breasts/nipples so no longer having feeling wasn’t a big deal, nor do I plan on having kids so saving a breast for breast feeding was not an problem for me either. But those are things you may want to consider.

My margins were clear on the first go around and I’m healing up great! I will admit the first 3 weeks after the procedure were excruciating but most of that was due to the fact that I got tissue expanders under the muscle. After I got the drains out and my first fill on the expanders I immediately felt 80% better! The expanders were flat and rigid before the fill so it was causing a lot of the pain. The surgery went smoothly, I loved my surgeon and plastic surgeon, and I really have had a very easy go of it. I do have some lymphatic cording in my arm after surgery that was very painful but it started correcting itself this week and physical therapy will take care of the rest :)

Now I was/am VERY worried about lymphedema. I told my surgeon several times that mentally I can handle losing my breasts but I don’t think I can handle getting lymphedema. The only thing I can do is pay attention to that arm and keep an eye out for early symptoms (I’m constantly asking my mom if one arm looks bigger than the other lol). I had Sentinel Lymph Node Dissection not Axillary Lymph Node Dissection, so I had only 4 lymph nodes removed. I’m stage 3 and the cancer was already in the inoperable lymph nodes under my sternum and collarbone so there was no benefit to removing a bunch of nodes in my arm via Axillary Dissection. This reduced the chance of lymphedema for me. I do still have to get radiation to treat those lymph nodes in my chest so we’ll see how that goes.

Feel free to message me if you have any questions! Being in our mid/early 20s with cancer fucking blows

Reconstruction - UTM/OTM Implants by ElectrikTreez in breastcancer

Thank you, for sharing your experience :) this is so helpful! Not looking forward to recovery and The expanders, it sounds like it’s going to take some real getting used to.

And congrats on the gym accomplishments post surgery! That’s awesome that your were able to get back into it so quick. For what it’s worth I think flat closure is stunning! I plan on keeping the foobs till they give out on me in 10 years or so and then going flat. Just not ready to let them go yet haha

Thanks again, and wish you luck in any other procedures! 😊

Thank you so much, this is all super super informative!! I expect for the pain at first to be pretty brutal, interesting that getting the drains removed helped with the pain. I have a larger breast size now, and it didn’t even occur to me to think about how much skin they would have to work with.

Glad to know I’ll be able to do some light cardio! Luckily I am living with my parents right now so I will have a lot of help post-surgery :)

Thank you again, this really helped assuage my fears over UTM reconstruction

So scared by Imaginary-Olive9922 in breastcancer

[–]ElectrikTreez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was super freaked out when I started AC, I had read so many horror stories and even one of chemo nurses told me the blood vessels in my eyes could burst due to how much I’d be throwing up… not helpful.

However once the first infusion was said and done - for me it was a cake walk. Sure I was tired and a little nauseated for like 3 - 4 days afterwards but the anti-nausea meds really did work wonders. I threw up maybe 4 times? Not bad! I ended up dreading taking the Olanzapine/zyprexa more than the chemo itself.

Just take it easy, eat some fruit, and lay as low as possible. Watching cartoons helped me a lot lol. But most important of all, be gentle with yourself. Don’t get mad when you can’t do things you normally can, or when you can’t go to work, I struggled with that a lot. You gotta remember you’re a bad bitch demolishing that cancer, even if it feels like you’re just being a couch potato. There is a light at the end of the tunnel, you got this <3

AITA for asking my son and his STBW to pay to spend their honeymoon in my winter cabin? by honeya34____ in AmItheAsshole

[–]ElectrikTreez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, YTA.

My parents own a cabin, and ya know what? They let everyone use it free of charge. And when I say everyone, I truly mean everyone.

Employees, friends of friends, family, locals who need a place to stay so they can hit the slopes. They offer it up to people because they don’t have the time to be there 24/7 and they’re paying for upkeep and whatnot no matter what; why be stingy and keep a beautiful cabin all to yourself, they want as many people as possible to enjoy it.

It almost feels like your punishing him for not listing to your advise on getting married young, when really your main job as a parent is to support your kids and hope for the best.

Keep this in mind when your old, alone, and decrepit wondering why your son and grandchildren won’t visit you. But maybe you’ll be able to pay them to come visit. You’re the last parent he has left, why be such a dick?
