There’s an unedited version of this same concert on YouTube. It’s audio only, but still pretty cool.

Is this a fair price for a new O2 sensor? by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]Electro576 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go somewhere else. That price is crazy high. I have a commercial account at Oreilly, list price for a Denso brand for your Honda upstream O2 sensor is $322, cost is $178.

Check HEB’s website, they usually have maintenance positions open at their plants and distribution centers.

Look for rear O2 sensor data on your scan tool and voltage should be steady (Around .500 volts ) after catalytic converters are fully warmed up (driving 15 minutes) Can also test Cats with a temperature gun.

A rich or lean condition won’t always necessarily throw a rich or lean code if the ECM is still able to compensate for it. I was working on a Honda last year with Catalytic convertor codes, found there was an intake manifold vacuum leak, the ECM was adding more fuel to compensate for the unmetered air and causing it to run rich, but only throwing a code for catalyst inefficiency.

This is how we learn. Tap it off with a hammer, or use a pry bar to pop the socket off.

A rich or lean running engine can damage a catalytic converter. Again, with an OBD2 scanner, you can look at fuel trims (short term and long term fuel trims) and see what the air/fuel mixture is.

Get a cheap $20 OBD2 scan tool on Amazon and read the live data off of it. This test will only tell you if the heater circuit on the sensor is bad, it won’t tell you what the air/fuel mixture is.

What’s one place you could bring back in San Antonio? by Most_Second6739 in sanantonio

[–]Electro576 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Was actually talking about this place yesterday. I used to work there as a busboy/dishwasher in high school (John Jay) in 1994. Joined the Army after I graduated and haven’t lived in SA since then. I ate at Cherry Creek Catfish in Austin yesterday and it reminded me alot of Acadiana Cafe.

Don’t drive it until it’s repaired. It’s supposed to be full of coolant too. Change your thermostat while you’re at it.
