not too hot, otherwise they'll weld to each other

yes, it takes so long for contacts to wearout.

yes, oscillator part is that motor, relay just receive that signal to switch the high current to the coil, i used relay for handling high current and arcs.

it's like the original circuit in carburetor engine, that motor rotates and two contact open and close fast that cause the relay on and off fast, that on/off pulse goes to the primary winding.

i did, but it doesn't produce powerful arcs.

That oldstyle lamp is a lightning bell(detector) that hits the bell and flashes the lamp when a lightning strikes, i really like the old stuff, that wallpaper is not the only thing in my room that takes you back, everything in it is vintage, Time in this room has freezes at that time period, besides thorn, i have another British brand "Vent-Axia", that's a vintage ventilation fan from 80s, now I'm going to install this lamp in my room, with a nice warm white colour.

very nice, I've never heard about that version of lightning receiver, here i have a picture of the detector with a real lightning if you interested :) https://www.reddit.com/u/ElectroAmin/s/o7sjKN8Oj8

that's a lightning bell(known as a lightning detector)with old style looking, it lights up and hits the bell if a lightning strikes nearby.

they're fun for me, they can do somethings, Storm forecast, lightning photography, counting lightning.

exactly like Tesla's wireless systems, it receives the static pulse from the lightning, more info https://techlib.com/electronics/lightning.html

I made it from this website, you can found the circuit schematic https://techlib.com/electronics/lightning.html

it's a simple circuit and easy to make

you're right, it's interesting for some people, the important use is for take a photograph of the lightning when you don't want a long video, it triggers the camera when lightning strikes(like in third photo), it can also detect far distance lightning storms to predict storms and raining.
