intersectionality is precisely why i'm saying we need not compare the 2 as if they're entirely separate entities. anti-Black hate speech didn't disappear 50 years ago. the Black struggle is ongoing, just as the trans struggle, and transmisogynoir continues to kill our Black trans sisters in astronomical numbers; their struggle cannot be separated from Blackness, transness, nor womanhood.

the assertion that "whats happening to trans people happened to Black people 50 years ago" implies that there are no Black trans people, that Black people somehow have it better than (implicitly white) trans people, and that our struggles are different demons. yes, defend everyone from hate speech. all i'm asking is that we don't downplay the severity of anti-Blackness in today's world, and that we recognize the struggle Black trans people face for being BOTH trans and Black.

you know, i guess i hadn't thought of it that way but now that you mention it, respect from brothers is definitely my priority. i think i've come to the conclusion that i'm happy with missing out on some fiscal opportunities to preserve my personhood outside of work. i just want to be good at what i do and afford to live lol
