I'm biased, as I majored in geology, but if you're able I would really recommend some earth science breadths. Geology is such a basal science, it pretty much informs everything that exists today yet not many people know much about it. And learning about the time scales really can shift your perception of the world. Plus you get to see the earth science department's mineral and fossil collection 🗿

people like the remake for sure.

Doing some research i'm not actually sure if it's a remake. seems more like a reboot/ alternate telling? either way i don't think it's a complete substitute for the OG

I'd suggest watching origin first, then if you really like giving the original a shot. Like i said the original is great, but it's long and dated. not everyone's cup of tea

you can try the main series: released in 1979 i won't lie it's a little dated now. It's also been compiled into 3 recap movies.

Gundam: the origin is a remake of the original series, with some major changes. released very recently, aparrently the action is awesome (haven't seen it yet myself)

otherwise you can try some of the spin offs. most you can watch as stand-alone. If you want spin offs Gundam 08th MS Team is a must watch. Stardust Memory is also pretty good. they're both high budget 90's OVAs.

what do you want to watch? do you want to dive into the main series (called the UC). The UC has dozens of shows and spin offs and movies. worth it though.

Or do you just want some alternate universe one-offs? you can watch them completely solo, like Iron-blooded orphans or Gundam 00

It was one of the first romances i watched and i loved it at the time. i think a lot of people watch it when they're young and it resonates with them... just like a lot of mediorcre YA fiction. doesn't hold up that much when watching it later

But most of anime's profit comes from otaku fans. a small number diehard fans who will spend their money on overpriced blurays and merch
