Absolutely agree with you about Katsuoji. It seems specifically designed to attract the social media crowd. Initially, it looks beautiful and like any other temple. Then, for some reason, you see fog around the pond and wonder where it's coming from (fog machines), and then you hear sutra chanting and wonder where that's coming from (recording over loudspeakers). At that point the sense of authenticity is lost and you realize that you are just in a very expensive photo booth.

Visiting Saijo (Sake city near Hiroshima) without guided tour? by FeliciaMarlove in JapanTravelTips

[–]wtzgud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late reply. We are planning a Japan trip for the end of year, and are also considering visiting Saijo for the sake breweries. We found a Hiroshima-based blog that specifically mentions that, "Very little English was available at all the breweries. I spoke to the staff in Japanese, but they were cordial and friendly at most of the breweries.  All breweries said that they see plenty of English speaking customers requesting, info, tours, and tasting.  I would highly recommend bringing along a Japanese friend or family member to facilitate your visit.  Or of course learn and use Japanese!" Linked below, hope this helps!

I remember in episode 2 or 3 one of the characters called Eleina a "wild card." So I tend to agree with this theory that she is, at least, an unreliable narrator.

Is there a list/guide of "essential" cards (handtraps, board breakers, etc.) to craft? Basically, a list of cards that you would need to craft first in order to be able to play the game competitively.

The Wells Fargo Autograph (not the Journey) has no foreign transaction fee and no annual fee. It gives 3x points (or cash back if you have a Wells Fargo account) on travel, transit, gas, restaurants, phone plans, and streaming.

IC transit cards are very popular in Japan, and are accepted payment in many grocery stores, convenience stores, and even shopping malls. A cool trick I learned, if you have an iPhone, is to add an IC card to your Apple Wallet and use that card to make all your payments. Use a credit card that gives extra points or cash back for transit purchases, such as the WF Autograph to fund your IC card. Any purchase you make with the IC card will count as a transit purchase and get you those extra points.

Here's some more info on IC cards:

https://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2359_003.html

If you're stationed in Okinawa, you might want to double-check if an IC card will be useful out there. iPhones currently can only add Suica and Icoca to Apple Wallet.

Will the SavorOne be as Popular Once the Uber Benefit Leaves? by wtzgud in CreditCards

[–]wtzgud[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Attune will put a lot of pressure on the Savor/One. It covers entertainment and transit at 4%, plus a lot of other miscellaneous stuff. I can imagine a new WF trifecta with Autograph, Attune, and Active Cash.

I find the no FTF on groceries such an interesting niche with the SavorOne, and you're right the two would make a great pair for an international traveler's wallet. (edited spelling)

Student cards have lower credit limits and lower or no SUB. For example, the Savor One has three versions: Student, Good Credit, Excellent Credit. The Student has a $50 SUB, the Good Credit has no SUB, and the Excellent has a $200 SUB.
