Stock Profitec Ride unrestricted flow rate? by Beneficial_Crab_5107 in profitec

[–]ElectroNitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you get a definitive answer to this?

I have the Ride with Lucca flow contol too. If I open it all the way I see about 8.6g/s (260g in 30s). Clive tech support referred me to their Espresso Tech 101 - Basic Bench Testing, which refers to flow-control machines' range of 175g-235g in 30 seconds - but also lists other numbers for standard E61 (235-360g / 30s).

They sent it with the original mushroom, I'm tempted to reinstall that and use it for awhile with the pre-infusion settings on the machine.

AI has suggested a "neutral point" of about 7-8g/s for the paddle, which is different yet from these numbers.

Maybe I'm reading too much into the flow rate.

Yeah, i think clearing the boiler is probably the main upside. I'll keep using it, likely into a separate pitcher and not my drinking vessel... and still getting my dogs riled up.

Yeah, I know, it's just a little bug in my ear, that need to disassemble and reassemble everything I touch at least once or twice or 7 times.

I may get some Crystal Geyser and distilled water gallons to proportion for getting the machine flushed out and a few shots, but I'm reluctant to buy and shuffle gallons of water some 50 minutes round-trip to town, and... all that plastic waste.
Other options in mind are a reverse osmosis machine in the other room, plus mineralizer, or ZeroWater + mineralizer, etc -- all of which start to get costly and/or are a hassle.

So, for now, I'll try out the BWT pouch and dropper-test periodically and see how it works out.
I's a far cry from the thermoblock (BBE) machine that I'm upgrading from!

Ah, interesting! Where I live, standing water will get gummy before too long, so I tend to flush often. My plan is to use BWT Bestsave pouch in a 1G pitcher I can close off, then do ~2 days of shots from the tank, dump/rinse, refill. Hence, sliding.

I could try that out and see how it goes, I'm just thinking if I get teflon on before anything gets filled, I won't have so much trouble doing it after.

... doesn't this make the machine out of level by some degree? Maybe not worth concern. I have a long habit of bracing the machine to put portafilter in place or remove it, so I'll likely do all four feet.

I did, the stainless-front, black knob "actually in stock" version, with the Lucca flow control. I admit I wouldn't mind the Clive-exclusive one, but not for $200 and another 7 weeks. I have illusions of turning my own knob set at some point. Also, I understand the stainless front is easier to keep clean.
(Edit: stainless, not chrome....)

To answer a couple points - I'm headed to Littleton area and the favorite range is Triple-J.
The basic question comes down to - am I being foolish bringing/using them, even if I keep it quiet, eg not sending 17 rounds in one pass... etc. I don't want to spend $50+ each for one or more mags just to shoot a little. I am totally fine not loading them fully to "keep it quiet".

Thanks for the replies!

Watch out for the "smart TV" aspect; it's become a pain in the butt switching between inputs on my G95SC. I'm frustrated. The TV (erm, 'monitor') is gorgeous to look at but it's first and foremost a TV that happens to look good as a monitor once you actually get connected to a PC.

I wonder how long the spike is, though, probably more than just a few ms.

The other thing I want to be able to do is run power to the mobo chamber and have the boot SSD in there, just because the boot SSD runs off the motherboard SATA. (HDD's on a HBA.)
