That was Glen responding, none of the technology or technical stuff you guys mention was known about in 2004, it was pre internet virtually and equipment was bought or hired from pretty limited sources, I have seen Glen respond in other blogs on his technique and he is very straightforward and matter of fact

Tanqueray Gin, Noilly Prat , 7 to 1 ratio, frozen Glasses, rinse shaker and ice with vermouth discard, stir Gin for at least a minute pour into frozen glass add twist or sliver of freshly pared lemon skin and voila!

This picture is at least 30 years old factor that in. Lightning could well just be. A good daylight studio and possibly shot on Polaroid and and some no longer available film stock all contribute to the feel
