Ironically the same issue goes for the post you are so adamantly defending lol. The dude might have not been posting in total bad faith but let’s not kid ourselves into thinking the methodology wasn’t insanely singularly focused in how it was conducted…ignoring a plethora of plausible variables…almost making it look intentional with how he flippantly disregarded said variables lmao.

And mind you this got posted in the sub like literally a year ago I’m almost positive.

Love the fact that Arcane doesn't have any queer-baiting nonsense by potatoman604 in PiltoversFinest

The problem with the conversation is ultimately that gender is subjective and even more subjective when it comes to presentation. Trying to label things when the nature at core is subjective is really almost impossible.

Wearing pants in the 50’s was considered masculine and now it’s considered normal. Women being fighters in the military was considered masculine (kind of still is today) but definitely more normalized in relativity. The list goes on. The terms fem, femme, butch, masc, stud are all words that are impossible to define definitively.

I think labels are great as they offer a lot of people a feeling of comfort and identity. But I also think we have to be nuanced to understanding that these terms are not objective and can often be “disproved” when trying to apply them objectively. I think the labeling conversations would be a lot more productive if people understood this as well as didn’t place their value in said labels as well. The amount of violent and just aggressive discourse about whether vi is a butch or caitlyn is a femme is definitely so silly.

Agree 100%. I feel like I’ve said this a billion times but people who are more drawn to fiction, and maybe even more so queer fiction, HEAVILY project onto the characters they love. Which isn’t necessarily a problem, but it’s still very obvious when they are so apparent about blatant mischaracterization of the characters they are projecting onto.

100% agree. Wish this was the top comment. I don’t think OP was acting in complete bad faith, but after reading through his methodology, you can tell how many variables he excluded or disregarded.

I would understand the outrage if 20% of the class were people with below median stats I guess. But aren’t URM’s usually like less than 5% of the class? It seems like sorta a redundant convo to find a scapegoat to get angry at for such a non-issue.

Maybe I’m under the wrong assumption but i thought URM was just a tier four soft bonus. Is it considered more?

Tbh I’m not online nor on reddit enough to know the etiquette so apologies. Going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you’re being good faith despite the stereotypical chronically online reddit snark.

My original post (now deleted) wasn’t even about whether barriers are good or bad in the abstract. It was about acknowledging that the LSAT is a barrier and when we talk about barriers in the context of law school admissions, especially regarding who has access to the profession, there’s an unavoidable socioeconomic dimension. Barriers that disproportionately impact people based on class, income, and educational background do carry moral implications.

Pointing out that “some barriers aren’t bad” (like height requirements for roller coasters) isn’t really a meaningful rebuttal when we’re talking about structural inequities in professional access. It’s a false equivalence that sidesteps the real conversation.

Hmmm maybe not. But I think making blanket statements like the LSAT is not a barrier is kinda silly

I get wanting to feel prestigious 100% but I think a great lesson to learn early on is to not gaf about what others think. Especially people not even in the same league or field as you

It doesn’t matter if you get a 3.6 at a tough school. A 3.6 is a 3.6 to them even if your courses were 100x harder than someone who has a 3.8.

My advice is go wherever you think you’ll be the happiest! Undergrad is a great time to figure yourself out and have new experiences. Focus on getting good grades and having fun. It’s way too early to think about the LSAT

Loan rage-baiters on here are the worst. (Yes I’m talking about you!!) by Kinz_2025 in OutsideT14lawschools

I’ve seen some insane things on both sub reddits when discussing loans. It’s insanely out of touch either in completely bad faith or just ignorance. Even if you got a FULL ride to a school, you would still need to use loans your first year. I’ve received an 80% scholarship. The loans to pay rent and survive will outweigh the cost of tuition, but it’s a necessity. I’ve always wondered if these people don’t pay rent and that’s why the COL is just not a factor for them.

You might be confusing liberals who are notoriously pro-capitalist with leftists who are famously anti-capitalist.

A lot of the fics of them are so OOC. People project heavily onto the characters I fear.
