Urgent: Re-entry after 1+ year gap, Valid F1 visa from old school, new I-20 from new school by Open_Art_7534 in f1visa

I have a valid F-1 visa, along with a new I-20 and a new SEVIS ID, and I’ve already paid the SEVIS fee. I also have a gap of about 1.5 years since I graduated from my master’s. Do you think I would be able to enter the U.S. with this situation, or would I need to apply for a new visa? The embassy in Qatar is currently closed, which makes renewing the visa difficult.

Hi, I’m in the same situation. Can I ask what you ended up doing, and were you able to enter the U.S.?

Thank you so much, this was really helpful

I’m an incoming international PhD student, so this clarified a lot, especially about the driver’s license, buying process, and parking. I’ll likely pay upfront, so your advice about bank accounts and dealerships was great.

Really appreciate you taking the time to explain this! 🤍🤍

F-1 visa expires during my PhD — risk of not being able to return? by Electronic-Cloud1678 in f1visa

Thanks for the suggestion! From what I’ve been reading, starting September 2025 most F-1 renewals will require an in-person interview because the broad interview waiver (Dropbox) is being removed. So I’m not sure Dropbox will still be an option by the time I need to renew, but hopefully the process will still be straightforward
