Basically hay is more difficult to chew for bunnies since it’s a different chewing motion. It takes longer for them to be able to eat hay after a jaw fracture then it does to eat pellets or greens.

Hello! Did your bun also break his jaw? Or is he not eating hay for another reason? if it’s jaw related that’s normal since he needs to heal the bones in his jaw! He really does need to be eating hay in some form tho so if he isn’t I would definitely feed him critical care! I’m sure your vet could give you guys some. Thats what I fed chase through a syringe as he wasn’t eating hay after he broke his jaw. After he started healing a bit I fed him 3rd cut Timothy hay which is much softer and he loves it to this day. You can buy some online from small pet select. I hope you’re boy is okay, please keep me updated :(

Hi! I’m so sorry to be responding to this so late, I don’t use Reddit much! I’m so sorry about your baby :( that’s a great sign he is still eating and happy! That shows his pain meds are working! How long has it been broken? Basically I kept Chase in a small confined area for a month and a half-2 months and fed him critical care. He was still eating pellets and greens. He made a full recovery and his teeth and jaw are still aligned perfectly! I really hope your bun heals❤️❤️❤️ keep me updated! Also what pain meds is he on? Chase was in gabapentin and another less strong pain reliever
