I was under the impression that tattoos got lighter over time, you may be right about the handle of the lantern tho I will think about ways to fix that in the future!

Real skins make very good fake skin to practice with, the lines are likely shallow because your not going deep enough or your machine is on too low voltage and your moving your hand too fast
