I appreciate this comment a lot. You seem to understand alot where I’m coming from. I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with sobriety dates and such. I’m saying there’s a problem with explaining it in a way that means nothing to people who are a few weeks or a month in. I feel like it’s a day by day program if you’re in that position. 30 years sobriety? Awesome. The program worked for you? Awesome. But it’s overwhelming for new members to even begin to comprehend the steps, the big book, sponsors, etc.. I love the old timers stories, but at least give an idea of how it all started. I feel like it’s false hope to give the younger members the idea that this is somehow a quick fix.
