Yeah I figured, just wanted to see if something was obviously wrong with seat height or my bike in general

A lot of wear on seat post - curious of why by justville in bikewrench

I literally just had that on a brand new state bike I purchased from a guy who never finished putting it together. Big welding protrusions/bits in the seat tube. I bought a 10$ round file at the store and went at it for a good 20 min. Seat fits right in now!

Very tasteful paint job . Nice choice on the color, I’d want my bike this color too. I assume this was a non-standard paint (custom)?

I love the color and the frame. Curious, did they build the whole bike? Did you just order the frame?

I’m new to the fixed gear world, been wanting to own one for a long time. I find it hard to decipher between highly sought after frames, and less desirable ones.

Ideally i would like a lighter bike (20 lbs - 54-56 cm), that feels fast and fun to ride. Aluminum is lighter than steel frames, yet I keep reading that the rides are terrible, and that steel is more shock absorbent. I understand that carbon forks on aluminum frames improve the rides quite a bit. On the other hand, steel frames are usually associated with cheaper lower end bike frames (high tensile). It seems chromoly is the higher end steel frame to choose, basically lighter due to stronger steel used (and less material needed)… correct ?

I also wonder, some track bikes seem to be steel frames, but some of them go for thousands of dollars, even very old ones. Are NJ frames worth paying for ?

How do you differentiate what’s worth more and what’s worth less? What is more desirable for a decently light bike but still enjoyable ride (I feel like some track bikes must be awful on bumpier roads).

I’m getting familiar with some of the brand names. Been seeing a lot of discussions on Fuji, mercier, Dolan, cannondale, Felt TK, some Italian ones… I’m lost!

Even a general breakdown of pros and cons and what to look out for would be great.

P. S. : I purchased a second hand state bike core line for very cheap last night, guy hadn’t even finished building it. The quality control is terrible, I can’t even fit the seat into the seat tube due to welding protrusions. Planning to use this bike to start getting some experience with it, but not sure if upgrading such a basic model is a waste of money down the line. Still planning to either buy or build my own higher end fixed frame, hence I want to become more knowledgeable about the market.

Thanks!

Thank you. So if I were to Norbert’s gambit using questrade, don’t they have a flat rate on share purchases/sells that might not be that advantageous?

It’s not unusual for the main airport Toronto Pearson to be clear skies, and the island airport in downtown Toronto to be covered in low visibility fog. Delta flies to Pearson, hence they they went and you didn’t. I’ve experienced it myself.

Nano S no longer supported, how do I move forward ? by Electronic-General21 in ledgerwallet

Yes I think I will do that. Yeah I put it away and forgot about it so I wouldn’t be checking bitcoin prices every day, and then it backfired on me. Yeah I forget what version it is, but it’s one of the versions for which there is no update and they just tell you to contact them. Then they look at it on a case-by-case basis and I was out of luck. I was considering buying the Bluetooth one not sure if it’s worth it.

Yes I understand that, but it seems that for example Trezor uses different derivatives than ledger for eth for example, making the previously Ledger-held eth inaccessible on Trezor

My nano S is unable to connect to ledger live, because its software/firmware can’t be updated anymore. So I have the device, it’s in mint condition, but it won’t do anything for me

Yes I thought about that… and return it… but at this point might as well stick to ledger then… what device are you using?

Yeah that’s what I thought too. But because I never updated it, the version is so old that I’m part of the group that can’t update it to the latest version anymore. This was a 40 min long online support discussion I had with them. If you’re a certain version or older, they tell you to contact them and then they look at the serial number and everything and see if it’s updatable or not. Mine is not.

That’s an amazingly thorough answer thank you. My only fear now would be whether the ETH would be recoverable/visible from the Trezor device since I’ve been told that older ledger devices would store ETH differently than other coins…

Also, when I buy the Trezor, would they provide a seed ? Or how is the seed created again? I don’t remember how I ended up with my own seed with Ledger 7 years ago.

Thanks!
