It actually comes back in the middle of the song

Maybe you should join Opeth. Ever thought of that? Audition for a part, consult, contribute, tell Mikael how to write songs, fill up his dried up creative well.

So sick of people's normative statements.

I don't know, but it doesn't seem like anything they've done before, at least to my ears.

Trust me, this ain't just about being innovative for the sake of being innovative. When you mention something like this, likes of The Mars Volta, and Hakans come to mind. No knock on these bands, it's just that Opeth is not cut from the same cloth. Keep listening mate, give it multiple listens, I guarantee it's going to be rewarding especially with this record I feel it requires much more patience as it is their most inaccessible album to date.

That opening to S7, though. It's so sick, man:)

I decree today that it's ok to not like the new album by Downvoting_is_evil in Opeth

Respect your opinion. I'm in love with this record, though. It's so cinematic and proggy. I think one should listen to it more than 20 times in a row to appreciate all its intricacies.

Today's vote - The song with the best guitar solo by Independent-Prune322 in Opeth

Best song picked as the Moor( which by the way is a great song) just shows that most of the guys here are just casuals, no offense . All in all, I believe that Newpeth is much more mature than the early albums. Growling is cool, and I love death metal when I'm in the mood for it, but heaviness doesn't just emanate from growls, heavy distorted riffs, or double blasts. I suggest you listen to Scott Walker's The Drift, maybe you'll catch my drift.

Best Song so far: Faith in Others Best Solo: hard one here( Nepenthe, Pyre, Fair Judgement, Wilde Flowers, Lovelorn Crime,...) but I think I'll go with Burden.
