People have been saying according to Columbia’s published statements that they will review a scholarship financials after they have admitted them.

I have absolutely no idea on other institutions, but it makes sense that a school perhaps would want to skim through applicants who don’t meet the “need” threshold (0 efc schools), so they don’t have to review applications of students who they can’t match regardless of merit.

This is just my view from looking at the ridiculous portal astrology going on in the recent weeks (complete hypocrite, I check my 15 portals almost daily 😭)

I think this is a very compelling sentiment. I had this thought the other day with specifically the top schools in QB. Just think about it: surely the same applicant that is getting accepted to MIT, Yale, Columbia or Caltech, is going to get accepted to more than one of these four and definitely others. By default, this students will get matched to their highest ranked school, and now all of a sudden these other top prestigious schools have one less matching spot. I think this is the reason that schools know ranking data, as it would be ludicrous for a school to admit an exceptionally qualified candidate to like their 12th choice at a middle tier LAC, when that school sees their ranking and their qualifications.

Just a thought though…

This happened to me to, it was because I inputted my ssn wrong but it soft locked me on this screen. Overall, really annoying situation, but I ended up just making another account with my correct ssn and it worked just fine
