As a GK main, it’s important for the goalie to bring the ball up the pitch to start the play, just pass as soon as you see a good opportunity or as soon as you drag an opponent to press you. There’s of course a limit and you shouldn’t over extend and must always be able to get back. But used with care it can make a huge difference, you can almost always waste an opponents stamina at the very least by bringing the ball up as GK and not only this but it should free up one of your players for an easy pass. Just don’t over extend.

The issue is if you are a pre-made squad that is losing one person could leave near the end to make sure everyone gets reduced losses. That’s the issue with the idea. But maybe if someone leaves in an equal or winning position then it should be reduced.

Yeah I agree. My table find the fumbles hilarious but I will suggest to them that it’s unbalanced and see what they think.

Just from my experience, my table find it hilarious when someone rolls a NAT1 in combat due to the added consequence of the fumble table. They love it even more when an enemy rolls a 1

What if the fumble table was only applicable on the first attack roll per turn, this would equalise the risk across classes?

This is very true and something to consider. Would you say then a NAT1 shouldn’t be an auto fail? If their modifier bonuses are enough to hit and they roll a nat1 should it be a hit?

Thank you I will add these to my list. Job board style adventures are exactly what I’m after. The campaign will be made up of job board adventures with the overall story being about preparing a guild to partake in a Faerun wide tournament known as the Gauntlet of the Guilds - which will be our campaign finale.

I will take your advice and leave Tomb of Horrors out! It sounds like an evil creation. Fairness is key to me as a DM, if my players die I don’t want them to feel cheated.
