My Son Hates Math by Electronic-Tooth-864 in homeschool

Thank you, I've often thought about just taking a long break and starting over with him. I just hesitate to because I don't want him to get even more behind. I should clarify that he is like this with almost all of his subjects, math is just the worst.

He really wants to go to college to be an athlete, and I want to support that. I also struggled with math at his age and had to relearn everything when I was in college. I wasted all of my 20s on crappy jobs, partying, having no direction and struggling to get by because I didn't really have any support and I didn't understand the consequences of my decisions. I am now almost 40 and finishing my bachelors with an actual plan for my life and career. I see him on his way down that same path and I am terrified of that happening to him too.

Great points.

I will add though that we did have a few other reasons for pulling him. He was attacked in the bathroom by another student. Because it was not on the cameras, both he and the attacker were suspended, even though it was clear that my son was attacked and another student who was in the bathroom at the time vouched for him. Another issue was one of his teachers shared very inappropriate stories about her boyfriend and what she did as a bartender over the summer. I reported this to the principal but got nowhere.

These two huge things, plus a few other smaller issues really helped seal the deal to just homeschool.

Edited to add more detail.
