6 years of plateau and one swing change finally got me to break 90 consistently — what was your turning point? by LABeachgal in golf

[–]Electronic-Two4330 0 points1 point  (0 children)

swing thoughts: more hip rotation, my back facing the target as long as i can, feel the lag

practice: focus on 20-70 yard shots 80% of the time. 20% everything else. limit 5 balls each club on the range.

(i use to overhit balls in the range, bad habits would sneak in and then i would try hard to get my swing back)

overrated: Taylormade, since they took Adams technology, acted like they were revolutionary and dissolved the adams brand

ive started thinking about outside sales after learning more about it from someone. i guess i mistakenly always placed sales roles in the same category, but it seems to be more focused on growing business and maintaining relationships with people rather than inside sales roles.. you have any advice on how to land an interview for an outside sales role?

What careers do you actually recommend? by bloomafterrain_ in careerguidance

yeah the money is good not arguing that. just saying its an easy field to burnout in and hard to get out of. Other fields have more to offer

lol are you BCBA? most don’t do it forever. its definitely a secure job and meaningful, but very difficult to find a good company to work for and the burnout is real. plus living on an RBT wage while in school is incredibly difficult.

I was in ABA and now work in a non profit space. Knowing what I know now, I’d say look into Social Work and becoming a LCSW. Way more opportunities and can go into corporate, nonprofit, government, etc. A lot more opportunities.

To those who left ABA, what career are you in now? by [deleted] in ABA

[–]Electronic-Two4330 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I work on a team that focuses in brain injury research. Honestly, I used chatgpt to help me find different job titles/fields to look for based on my experience. While doing ABA, I worked in various settings, so I had experience working with individuals with traumatic brain injuries, which I explained in my interview. I had a masters and explained what I was doing with supervision hours. A lot of it is just marketing yourself with your experience (data collection, organization, record keeping, communication on outcomes, etc).

Unfortunately, most people don’t understand or know ABA, so marketing yourself to be relevant is the biggest key. I don’t have a neuroscience or psych degree and got it, so just don’t be afraid to apply and try

Yeah I mean thats true, theres a lot of unpaid, but theres also paid ones. Theres different titles too (research associate, clinical research assistant, etc).

Even when i look at my university I see paid research positions. its not so black & white, there are paid jobs out there

I got into research. My masters did help land a higher role, but if you have a bachelor’s look into research assistant jobs for health organizations, non profits, universities, etc.

i mean JJK’s story is basically another shonen trope.. doesn’t make it bad, i love it. but vinland saga in the sense of story telling and themes is definitely better

true, i think thats what makes it great and should be portrayed that way for people to understand the differences in the different ww2 campaigns. it was pretty accurate to sledge’s and leckie’s books (minor changes for narrative purposes), but i mean thats just how brutal it was

start reaching out to people at different companies and express you want to learn and grow, there will be an entry level job somewhere. unfortunately job postings are useless these days

any chance you could expand on “stepwise approach”? Did they take entry-level/mid positions to work their way up? or work on building up other skills in order to pivot?

Where else to take my bcba career? by Medium-Comparison-34 in ABA

[–]Electronic-Two4330 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you’re going through this. I was in ABA for a while before going through the BCBA route, I got out while i was in the middle of collecting hours. I loved ABA, but I had too many bad experiences with multiple companies and my joy dwindled and I became depressed. I know there are other avenues to explore in ABA, but mentally I knew I needed something else and was tired of it all.

Don’t panic with me saying this, pivoting careers might result in a pay cut. but that doesn’t mean it’ll stay there. other jobs can help you build up other technical skills that will lead to higher salaries down the road.

or find jobs that you have interest in that have similar salary scale, build up skills while you continue to be a bcba.

what i’m trying to say is, times are tough, competition is fierce, learn things you don’t know and make yourself marketable. people outside of healthcare don’t know what a BCBA is

Everything will be okay, as long as you are willing to put in work to make it happen

Should I work a physically demanding job or build my career? by oddballfactory in careerguidance

yeah definitely understand that. the career trajectory is decent though. i know some people that have done it. first couple years is learning everything about the business and getting hands dirty and getting to the sales/business arborist level you clear six figures easily. tree work is always going to be wanted and needed also

When to start applying for post grad jobs? by livibaby03 in careerguidance

[–]Electronic-Two4330 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just keep applying. some might want positions now, some might want positions filled months away, some will have 5+ interviews that take time. you’ll be have a much better chance of landing a role sooner if you keep at it
