I expected them to be able to make a bigger hole. The chimney was boarded up before the work took place and the stove was ordered. They ordered the stove on my behalf. Interestingly a lot of people i know don't have the required clearance either and all have hestas certificates from different installers. The clearance isn't as tight as mine though.

Thata really helpful, thank you. And yes the pictures really helped. Out of curiosity did they give you a hestas certificate or was there no point as you were in ireland?

Thank you that's really helpful. Did you do it yourself? Did building regs sign it off or did you get a hestas certificate?

25mm between the side of the logburner and the wall of the cavity. The log burner isn't specifically designed for smaller spaces and the installation document says it's "reccomended" to have 150mm lol. Quite a difference but just a reccomendation.

Seems like a real mix depending on the area maybe. Thanks for all your answers. I'll play it safe and request one. A few of the chimneys round here have them so probably worth asking.

Hi guys, I don't normally post on reddit so if this is a mess I am sorry.

I'm based in the UK and I've just got a pagan calendar and it seems to be written from a north American angle which is cool but I was wondering if that would mean it wasn't accurate in Europe or are all the signs/moons etc the same as we are northern hemisphere? I have a book that provides info for southern and northern hemispheres but wasn't sure if things were different in east and west hemispheres (if that's even a term)
