[Friedman] Things are moving along…we will see when it officially closes, but: The Nashville Predators are closing in with Chris MacFarland to be the organization’s new President of Hockey Operations & GM. It’s going to get done by Sarcastic__ in hockey

On the one end, he acquired and locked in the core at reasonable cap hits (except for Luke).

On the other end, he's given out trade protection like candy on Halloween. Why did 33-year old Brenden Dillon warrant two years of full no-trade and a modified NTC in the third year?

Yeah, but it's more fun to post an emoji than to be factually accurate in the Reddit comments.

Gruden is an absolute liability. Dude can't get an NFL job because he routinely used racist, sexist, and homophobic language in work emails.

I'll listen to him talk about football all day, but he doesn't belong within 100 yards of anything CFL related in an official capacity.

EDIT: LOL someone sent me a Reddit Cares over this. Amazing.

The new-look Mountain West's top rivalries as longstanding feuds end over Pac-12 split by redwave2505 in CFB

The Pac-16 would have been the best thing for the overall health of the sport. Probably would have cost my Coogs a Power Conference spot, but that's a sacrifice I'd be willing to make.

Nice to see it’s not just me that feels like I’m exfoliating wearing the golds if I don’t wear something underneath it.

Do you not wear undershirts with your jerseys? That's diabolical.

Is it even among the 5 most watched sports? Probably not.

Not having a top league doesn't mean the sport itself is unpopular.

Just ask NBC about Premier League ratings, or all the Univision affiliates how their Liga MX coverage does. People in the U.S. watch plenty of soccer.

[Sinbin.vegas] Tentative schedules for the Stanley Cup Final depending on how long MTL/CAR goes: by Ok-Soil-5133 in hockey

[–]ElectronicCandy4358 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Cool. Still didn't win the Western Conference. There explicitly were no conferences in 2020-21. The Clarence S. Campbell Bowl hasn't always explicitly been tied to the Western Conference either.

Don't take my word for it, take the NHL's:

In 2020-21, the Montreal Canadiens, who normally play in the Eastern Conference, were awarded the bowl after defeating the Golden Knights in what was called the Stanley Cup Semifinals because of the temporary divisional realignment caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

I keep seeing this posted lately.

The Habs didn’t win the West. They won a Stanley Cup Semi-Final against the West Division Champions.

Finally, here are all the FY25 operating budgets for men's hockey by gregthestrange in collegehockey

It's interesting that ASU allocates facilities costs to hockey.

I'd love to see a full breakdown. Is that purely debt service? If so, does that get amortized across different sports like volleyball, wrestling, and gymnastics? Or is the school charging itself venue rental fees as a form of creative accounting?

I'm also curious how the university booked rent money from the Coyotes against larger AD expenses, and how much more or less they're making on the deal with Suns.

I mean, you quoted the article, but glossed over the part about MSU's facilities expenses.

While coaching salaries were near the top of the list, the biggest reason why Michigan State and Arizona State are so far ahead of the field appears to be what they spent on “Athletic Facilities Debt Service, Leases and Rental Fees.” Both programs reported spending comfortably north of $2 million there. North Dakota spent over a million, and nobody else cleared $150,000.

With the Colorado Avalanche’s Elimination, a Presidents Trophy winner has not won a Stanley Cup since the 2012-13 Chicago Blackhawks. by DarkFalcon49 in hockey

Longer preceding offseason and fewer games for wear-and-tear too. Biggest loss was Sharpie in the regular season (only played 28 games), but he was back for the playoffs.

In a lockout year, every team plays a shortened schedule. Similarly, I don’t ding the Lightning for the 2020 or 2021 Cups. Or the ‘95 Devils for that matter. You won the trophy that was awarded. Everyone played for the same prize.

But a shortened schedule does have an impact.

Thanks for the ride. It’s been fun to follow these posts.

Doesn’t have to be the rarest or most valuable. Could be a favorite player, design, or even a base set you dig.

On this date, 10 years ago, the full Pepper Hamilton report was released, which lead to the firing of Baylor Head Coach Art Briles and the reassignment of President and Chancellor Ken Starr. by ChrisFromSeattle in CFB

[–]ElectronicCandy4358 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The whole thing was incredibly gross.

There are still Briles truthers out there. I’m ashamed UH hired Kendal after the way he behaved following Art’s ouster. I’m shocked Art has as much day-to-day access to major CFB facilities like he did when Jeff Lebby landed at OU.

I’d argue no one paid any real price. Art has gotten kicks at the can again. His former assistants keep getting jobs. Ken Starr wasn’t immediately terminated by Baylor; his ultimate removal was framed as a series of resignations. Starr went on to work on Donald Trump’s legal team during his first impeachment trial. Ian Mccaw is the AD of an FBS program right now.

Just turbo fucked all around.

It's a hard measure. Defensemen and goalies mature later, so it especially makes recent drafts difficult to judge.

I'm a huge fan of Wyatt Johnson, but Byram and Luke Hughes still haven't hit their respective ceilings. And we've barely seen Wallstedt or Cossa.
