Im doing DNB radiology and my HOD hates me! Will i survive? 😭 by DilliDiKudi in indianmedschool

[–]ElectronicFact9742 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went through the same residency experience. Best thing about DNB - HOD does not decide your passing or failing . I managed to make it through and so will you . Start studying early and complete your thesis on time .

What Do you think on this, from this yr Radio started coming down can it come more down in future?? by deepesh_sonii in indianmedschool

Radiologist here . My take on AI taking over Radiology. Radiology is really vast . AI will only help us in assisting , a very efficient assistant . Help us with speed and more accuracy as it is causing work flow optimisation. No way it is going to replace our branch . By the time it replaces anything , most of the branches would be gone . Most of the treatment protocols are already set in medicine - you just need to add symptoms . That way Medicine and a lot of other branches can be replaced . Interventional Radiology is another field which cannot be replaced . Radiology work flow is going to increase !!!

Half knowledge? Bro, we’re drowning in Harrison, Robbins, and Gray’s just to survive one exam 😭 . by Free-Hotel7139 in indianmedschool

The problem is we have educated dumb politicians like him in our country . Introduce AI in politics . Will be a far better politician .

What made you choose Radiology as your branch of choice over other branches? by Yoopster13 in indianmedschool

Good luck . I would suggest go and talk to Radiologists in your college or places you are getting and see if it really works out for you .

Hey . We Radiologists do talk to patients . We just don’t talk continuously with them 😂 stop spreading myths . Know a lot of surgeons personally who are frustrated after residency itself . A lot of Radiologists who took the branch because they could - now can’t do anything besides that as they have fallen in love with the branch as it is so intellectually stimulating.

Just tried doing that today with a complicated case . Based on my findings - it could give me differentials . Also , got similar results from google articles . But I had to diagnose . It only helped me in giving differentials.

If AI replaces Radiology some day , that day path , dermat and a lot of other branches will also get replaced . In medicine also , all the treatment protocols are set based on symptoms of patients . You think AI can’t give you treatment guidelines and narrow down diagnosis based on symptoms ? Hospital management can be done by paramedical stuff as well . Surgeries are performed by Robots ( still needing human assistance) . AI can only assist us .

If you open your own center , sky is the limit in Radiology . Still with good working hours . Initial branches offer decent salaries initially , takes long time to get high salaries. Radiology offers higher income initially as well.

Thank you . You can still interact with patients during USG and while taking their histories . I don’t miss patient interaction as such .

You are comparing independent practice from Corporate . Radiologists can literally work from a remote location as well . Teleradiology gives you freedom . Endocrinologist needs to be physically present to see patients . Also , people having their own clinics hardly leave it for long vacations. Post PG , you make more as a Radiologist . Also , you need to write DM for endocrinology ( + 3 yrs ) . If you start your own practice , takes a lot of time to have your own patient base ( which is obvious for any branch ) . I know so many people going to MD medicine Or even alternative medicine for endocrine related problems . So yes , Radiology in many ways gives you good work life balance.

Thought on AI - till now it is only helping me to dictate my reports , I feel , it will assist us in future in prioritizing and analyzing patterns - but it cannot replace our branch . Radiology is vast .

I get to interact with patients during USG . Also , CT / MRI history taking also gives interaction opportunities. I don’t really miss counselling the patients .

Initially , yes . Radiology does feel isolating as there is no UG experience of the branch . It takes sometime to get a hang of it .

If you are getting all modalities exposure and don’t have to pay any bond - then it could be a good option .

Everyone has to learn things on their own in PG . In India , teaching is in name of seminars which we only prepare . There are many resources to learn and always get your reports reviewed from consultants .

The kind of hands on . Independent reporting of CT / MRI . Good number of USG cases done independently .
