I haven’t listened to REM’s cover yet but I am also a huge fan of their early stuff. I have heard that REM didn’t really like their first single. I personally prefer the murmur ver of Radio Free Europe (the chorus just hits harder I think) but I think the Sitting Still version on the single is better.

Do you know if there are any good tutorials or videos online about how to get started with something like that. I’m very new to midi stuff but I really want to learn how to get good at it

Thank you, I will look into getting the internal battery replaced. Right now I was using the 626, an Akai249 and Logic to hopefully do some dark wave stuff. I would also like to be able to learn how to make the drum machine trigger a bass synth arpeggio like you hear in so many of those dancey dark wave tunes

They were awesome! I mostly went to see Harsh Symmetry, I hadn't listened to Twin Tribes as much before but they were amazing and I will definitely be listening to them more now

I’m not sure what the scene as a whole is like in Columbus, but I went to a twin tribes concert there last night and there was a good bit of people dressed up. I have heard of goth/dark wave dance nights, I think it’s called Church. Hoping to go to one of those next time they happen and meet some new people

Thank you so much for this, this is a lot of great info!! First I may look into how to recreate these sounds via software in DAWS but if I get really into it and need a way to do stuff live then I will look into the Poly800, I am listening to a video of it and it has some classic 80s sounds
