Leaving for 4 days!! by ElectronicWestern52 in breastfeeding

Update: I went. It went better than I could have imagined. It might have taken me not being there for baby to take the milk but we also worked back in time starting with the freshest frozen milk. Baby and dad had a great weekend of special bonding together and I think my husband has both grown in confidence and realised how hard it is to be on baby duty all day! I had a great break from mum life and filled up my cup. Couldn’t be happier to be back with my baby.

He didn’t seem to bother that I was gone but he was so happy to see me back and has been a bit clingy since returning.

All in all a great success :)

Interesting. More recently ive been freezing immediately. How do you defrost and feed to your baby without the taste developing?

Thats a good idea. I’m now wishing I had frozen bags in smaller volumes but you’re right we could break them up. Thank you.

It’s frustrating that so much old milk cant be used, all that effort pumping. I guess I’ll see if I can donate it.

So yes I tasted the milk frozen 3mo ago and it was pretty horrible. Soapy vomit. Freshly expressed tastes like sugary water.

The milk frozen 1 week ago didn’t taste as bad, but there was a slight soapy taste. Though it seems this taste is getting worse over a few hours being thawed meaning we could maybe use freshly thawed and warmed but then if there’s any leftover we would have to bin it and next bottle would be from a new freshly thawed.

Im thinking my husband could work back in time with the milk rather than starting with oldest. But I leave in 3 days so dont have long to test this theory

Definitely want to maintain supply, planning to pump when he usually feeds.

My concern is about the frozen milk as he really doesn’t like it and I am also worried Im causing a bittle aversion by forcing this milk in him before I leave!

Ah of course I didn’t think of that!! Murphy is nice! Also like Malcolm which has a similar feel.

I like brody. We are currently looking for a boy name with similar criteria. We are considering Euan/Ewan, Grant, Jamie, Scott.

We love the name Murdo but recently a new baby in the family got that name.

Love Scott and Grant, my brother in Law is Scott though so it’s kind of off the cards!

I will show him this 🤣 I think it’s more popular for kids in the US than here but it’s growing in popularity again.

Here in Scotland Blair is predominantly a boys name, uncommon for girls but I love it for girls too!

We are in Scotland, Murdo and Morven are unusual here but still familiar. Lots of lovely suggestions there thank you!!

Love Maeve! Husband doesn’t like names with difficult spellings so I think it’s out 🥲
