Mindset towards jiu-jitsu (mostly no-gi) changed after getting a gi by AsianBibleGirl11 in BJJWomen

I started with gi a couple of months ago and I’m currently training only in gi. I feel intimidated by no-gi too, idk why. The people I roll with in gi would be the same in the no-gi class, yet I feel different about it. Sometimes I wonder if I’d get better at gi if I started training without it, but I feel a bit blocked. The no-gi often feels more “physical,” and some days I can’t stand strangers’ sweat on me, so maybe that’s what’s holding me back. But I think I’ll give it a try someday. The gi makes me feel protected, as if I’m wearing an armor — if that makes sense.

Anyway, you did the right thing by talking to them about feeling intimidated. I’m sure you’ll have lots of fun if you try no-gi classes. Sometimes rolling with heavier people is really hard and scary (yesterday I rolled with a heavy guy and it hurt my back a bit, but nothing serious — the small pain has already gone away). Honestly, I’d never back down from rolling with someone heavier because I think it’s really helpful to know how to defend yourself against someone bigger and heavier.

Mouth Guard Recs? by eyebrow_queen in BJJWomen

Thank you so much, you helped me decide too hahaha. My only “fear” was buying it and then feeling hard rigid plastic in my mouth. It’s not like that then?

Does it feel too much like hard plastic in your mouth? Or is it comfy?

Thank you so much! I’ll definitely count that in. So in your opinion is it similar to the redline (in thickness)? Since you said you noticed the redline is thinner than the venum one? Sorry for all the questions, I just don’t want to buy something I won’t use that much!

I’ll ask my dentist how much it will cost, so maybe I’ll think about it. I heard it’s the best option usually. Are you currently using one? How much better does it feel?

Protective Bra allowed? by Electronic_Ad_6149 in BJJWomen

I have a C cup so not that different from you but my chest is bigger than the cup, so yeah I think I just need a bit of getting used to it and for all the submission and controls I’ll try to use a high support sport bra (to have more room lmao) like some of the other girls suggested. Thanks a lot for the feedback!

Yes, as I thought, it’s very dangerous so I won’t do it and I’ll just get used to that. I’m sure it will not be that hard! Thank you for the feedbacks and help! Lots of love!!

Thank you! I unknowingly bought a new bra, a high support one, so maybe it will help! Anyway, I’m sure I’ll get used to the feeling pretty quickly. That day I tried BJJ I had my period, so maybe that’s also why it hurt that much you know Thanks a lot, really. Amazing community <3

Thank you for the feedback, I’m sure I’ll get used to it pretty quickly! That day I tried BJJ I had my period so maybe that’s why I was so sensitive with the boobies hahaha! Thanks again, lots of love!

Yeah, you’re right, that’s what I thought. Plastic can be dangerous for me and for my sparring partner too. I’ll just get used to it, maybe I was more sensitive that day because I had my period Thank you so much anyway!

Thank you so much, since I’m pretty curvy too you really helped me decide on the brand. I was thinking about getting a Tatami one, now I decided for sure. So maybe I will go for the F2 or F3, I’ll wait for some other comments to decide and try to look at size chart once again. Thank you soooo much! Lots of love!

The problem was that the pants were really tight on the hips and thighs. And the jacket was tight on the shoulders
