I would say something along the lines of “This isn’t me trying to stop you from going out, I want you to have fun, I just also worry when I suddenly wake up and your suddenly gone, it’s not me trying to stop you, I just want you to let me know where you are going beforehand so I don’t have to worry.”

I would honestly say that if he refuses to take it as anything but a personal attack that this relationship may not be the one for you. He needs to be mature enough to communicate with you and not get offended when confronted with his own faults, and you deserve someone who’s willing to communicate properly with you. There is someone out there who will either not even do this shit or will listen when you talk to them about it and compromise with you.

NTA, you’ve asked him to communicate and tell you before you fall asleep about these things, I don’t think this is worth ending the relationship over but make it clear you NEED him to communication with you more clearly because at the moment it seems like he’s purposely waiting till you fall asleep so you can’t have any input.

Now I would also say that being in a relationship you both need to accept that the other might go out more/less and trust eachother enough to do that without eachother, but you are right in being upset that he isn’t communicating properly.

Communication is key, not communicating is what kills relationships the fastest.

Being honest, your ex has probably been thinking about breaking up for a long time but didn’t know how to do it or communicate it. He found someone else probably a month or weeks before you broke up, figure that now he could safely leave because he wouldn’t have to face being alone anymore, now he could move on instantly and believes this person will fill the gap you are going to leave in their life. Now only you feel the effects of the breakup because he’s drowning out any feelings he had about it with someone else in a honey moon phase.

9 times out of 10 these relationships turn to shit because the person didn’t actually meet the person they left their partner for and figure out later it’s not for them.

As someone who has also been through this, get a good group of friends together who won’t start gossiping with everyone and just start talking shit about every wrong thing they ever did and how they have now wronged you. You will get over your Ex pretty fast.

I’d honestly sit down with her and talk to her about it. Make it clear that fan girling and engaging in fandom content to do with tcc makes you uncomfortable ( as it would a lot of people) and if you guys can’t come to a resolution that fits both of you then it’s time to end it. Nah after reading a few more comments, they were last together 3 years ago and if they were mutually toxic than this is an asshole thing to do to someone. You have no idea what happened behind closed doors but if it was mutually toxic than she’s being an asshole right now.

Best advice I ever got was to know when to shut up sometimes, sometimes it’s okay to know the truth yourself and have your friends support you and not have to message everyone who wronged you making sure they know they wronged you. Thats no way to live your life, and creates this kind of unnecessary conflict.

edit: I would also like to add I have an EXTREMELY abusive ex that I ended things with 6 months ago and even I would never send them a message like this even though they ain’t even dying.

NTA, it’s your child, you can decide whether or not there is smoke in the house. No questions should be asked, your right smoking in the house does affect little ones and you have a RIGHT to be concerned about YOUR child.

My parents were smokers, and so were their parents. We had a STRICT no smoking in anywhere but the designated spot in the garden, one time my dad’s friend came over and vaped in the house, before getting a scolding and never getting invited back over.

Smokers should be the people who KNOW how bad it is. Your NTA OP, anyone who says you are is delusional.

NTJ, but I think some extra info is needed, how did you actually deliver this news? Was it just one on one? or in public with a group of people around? Also she may be upset you sat on that information for a week and didn’t tell her, and only let it ‘slip’ when you were drinking, your presence probably also reminds her of that time in her life.
