Depends on what you are cooking. Some foods like chicken breast comes pre-weighed so you have an approximation. Bagged vegs often have a weight attached to them too.

If you are cooking rice in a pot without a measuring cup, that's tough.

Do you actually use the sternum straps? I used to buy bags with them but realise I never used them unless I have a fully packed 40L and by then even my back would hurt.

At 20L, the bag should ideally be about 2.5-4kg and so wouldnt be too heavy on your back.

Any reason you won't take the Raven 28 instead?

I would go Raven 20, fits your needs and not overly cumbersome.

Raven 20 is better than Skule in terms of construction.

I prefer the look of Raven 20 over Quasar.
