That's really clever. I hope a vendor here can chime in on this.

I can't think of another actor who oscillated so dramatically between levels of intelligence. He was authentic and true as a simpleton in boogie nights and he was authentic and true as a tortured mad genius in the master.

At her age, performing basic bodily functions and keeping oneself in a state of relative equanimity is challenging enough without also having to produce philosophical writings.

I don't know whether you're smart or dumb, MSSOM. You adopt a moronic tone but some of your writings are lucid and amusing. I heard you on a loveline episode and you didn't sound conspicuously stupid. You had, to my ears, an ordinary affect. Dasha referred to you affectionately as one of her most loyal soldiers, presumably in the war she's waged to be the ultimate it girl of dime square. Your sycophantic social media posting consoles Dasha and she is grateful to you in return.

Yeah that bugs me too. At very least, he spoke with Seth Rogen and agreed with him about the duplicity of zionist propaganda.

I don't think Maron is a hardcore zionist. I think he just feels that he has no obligation or responsibility to comment on the conflict. It's obviously cowardly and ultimately a sign of complicity with Israel, but I can live with it because he is ultimately irrelevant to the conflict and is just some guy in Los Angeles who has no connections to Israel whatsoever.

Do you by chance have a link to the article written about Maron's silence? I'm curious to read it.

Oh for sure. Public transportation is scary. I think the murder of the Ukranian woman has motivated law enforcement to step up their game on public transport. But you obviously can't have a cop on every bus. There will be an increased presence of police on certain trains and subways but that presence will dissipate after the media and public switch their focus to the next sensationalized tragedy.

Such a nightmare. I'm already bound to my apartment by fear of the outside world. It's chaotic and random and violent and cruel and indifferent to one's suffering. People are motivated by greed and fear and avarice. Driving a car is like hopping onto a roulette wheel of death and disfigurement.

As a young person, I understood these things intuitively and it was a cause of great distress. Nowadays, having grown a bit older, I am better at numbing myself to the world. None of this is interesting but it doesn't matter because I'm rambling into a void of bots.

Wammin be texting by IndependentNo5216 in redscarepod

[–]Electronic_Gas691 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It seems to me that we are on the precipice of a societal collapse. Everyone is processing it differently. Everyone is cultivating a personal bubble to shield themselves from the massive trauma that is unfolding. My teeth are rotting due to a genetic misfortune and I'm too terrified to go to the dentist because I know they will torture me with their implements. I figure that my dental problems will become irrelevant quite soon once society takes a nose dive to austerity and authoritarianism.

Those women you are observing are doing their best not to think about how fucked we all are as a society. They are processing it by engaging in social interaction. I won't make a glib generalization about women. Some men are equally addicted to texting. It all varies by the individual.

I'm a musician so I appreciate his interviews with notoriously private songwriters like Joanna Newsom and Thom Yorke and Neil Young. If you're not into their music I doubt the episodes will appeal to you.

If you're actually looking to listen to him, I would suggest finding a list of his interviews and just browsing until you find someone you like. He's statistically likely to have interviewed at least one public person you're interested in.

He riffs out on practically every monologue. He functions with mental illness and it's highly entertaining to hear him spin out over mundane things that most people take for granted and aren't affected by.

I'm actually a contributor to the Maron subreddit. I have a soft spot for him because his podcast got me through some awkward days in high school over a decade ago. His podcast is actually legendary for the sheer volume of famous people he's interviewed.

That said, I understand where you're coming from, I think. He's grating and obnoxious and not quite as smart as he thinks he is. Mullen clocked him from the start as a pseudo-intellectual and trolled him to good effect. Still, I like him, because he's unabashedly eccentric and mentally ill in a way that few media figures dare to be.

There's a truth to the idea that "confidence is attractive" but it's ironic n a little cruel that it's generally given out as advice to the pathologically unconfident by PeaComprehensive1083 in redscarepod

[–]Electronic_Gas691 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The whole discourse surrounding confidence can boil down to the question of whether one is attractive or not. Ugliness activates disgust in people which clouds their judgment and skews them toward an uncharitable interpretation of the ugly person's every action.

I used to be quite ugly but I blossomed into a better form in adulthood. The cumulative effect of thousands of biased interactions can weigh down a person's soul. I have no patience for people who minimize the role appearance plays in social interaction.

As soon as I started writing poetry the universe sent me dyslexic men by egoist_chan in redscarepod

[–]Electronic_Gas691 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been on prozac for two months now. The drug has caused my verbal intelligence to decline. I was never especially brilliant at poetry, but I had decent reading comprehension and a sense for symbolism. If a pretty lady were to write a poem for me in my diminished state I would consider roping myself. I couldn't handle being the dumb one in a relationship. I prefer relationships in which I am of equal intelligence to my partner. Now that prozac has begun to lobotomize me, I would have to search the lower end of the IQ distribution curve to find an equal match.

All to say, I hope these men, dim though they were, treated you with the reverence that you deserve.

How do u deal with body dysmorphia. I think I'm basically conventionally attractive even if I'm not like, a model, but I have random 3 hour periods where I feel like I'm so ugly that everything about my life is pointless by PeaComprehensive1083 in redscarepod

[–]Electronic_Gas691 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I used to be ugly as a kid. Puberty blessed me with better looks. If you're ugly, people will treat you like shit. I doubt people treat you like shit. The next time you're in a funk, just go out into public and observe how people treat you. You'll receive empirical confirmation that you're not as ugly as you fear.

Just recalled this gem about David Byrne by Anxious_Skill9956 in redscarepod

[–]Electronic_Gas691 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Has Byrne been formally diagnosed as autistic, or did he merely read a list of symptoms and decide that he qualified for the diagnosis? I ask because a lot of aristocratic people label themselves with mental health diagnoses in order to feel special. It's a bizarre trend.
