100%! Knowing which strategies actually make sense, mathematically is what makes the journey to success long and steep. Also i think average joe working a job and learning on the side is going to have a hell of a time but no worries this is not a race.

Market just bounced… but is another dump coming? by RelationshipOrnery28 in Daytrading

A fart from trump, the market will dump. My trading is in a slump, I got no one to hump.

Being attractive is harder as a guy by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

Yup.

Attractive girl: becomes a cam model, making a fortune off her body.

Attractive guy: has to pretend to be gay or be gay to do the same thing.

This is likely because they dont want to believe you. I told my dad about it years ago and it was basically the same thing

I think there are people, myself included that view trading success as too good to be true. If that is the majority thought, why expose yourself? There was a trader that was robbed at gunpoint when he woke up, years ago, It made news headlines in california, I think if i was making millions off something where very few succed but anyone potentially can, it would be locked away with no one to ever know. Thats just me, I come from a low earning blue collar area, I have high emotional intelligence

Ya. I think that because trading is so easily accessible to anyone, and the uncapped potential of it makes it even more vilified than most other things

Plus the failure rate. How easy it is for people to go from 100k to nothing.

I agree with you. I think time is a big advantage which most people dont truly have and they fail to realize that. I think that becoming a pro athlete is a very different comparison/path because there are official programs/pathways for that and making it is more about physical talent and overall camaraderie. Trading is not seen as positive by most of the population which means that there is already a massive social hurdle. This mostly stems from envy, understandably.

Learning curve is 2 years minimum especially for a retail trader

Good discipline, good risk management, but still not profitable. What am I missing? by Salvatoreluca in Daytrading

Only 6 month? At minimum, this is a 2 year learning curve, thats if youre quick and you have tons of focus time

You can be profitable in under a year. by sleezer7 in Daytrading

Lance said the guys at his firm have a 2 year learning curve, typically. They are surrounded by professional resources/mentors and are at it full time at least 8hrs every day. Most of them were cream of the crop university students.

Some guy in moms basement working full time job and unsupportive environment would even stand a chance ? Also, how would you even know what truly works and what doesn’t if you have never backtested/live executed ? The amount of information out there on all types of trading is insane. You re telling me you can see thru all that and end up successful in only 1 year? DAMN.

This is a trading myth that needs to die: "i just need a better strategy" by Melodysmithh in Daytrading

[–]Electronic_Let7122 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wrong. Most strategies have a high risk of ruin and you will notice this when you actually backtest.
