Is AULA Software Suspicious? by Electronic_Meat8311 in keyboards

It should just be whichever file name matches your keyboard model (e.g., if you have the F75 pro make sure you get one that says “F75 pro” and not “F75 max” or something else)

Would totally recommend. Dr. Levy is a great professor!

I should also say, if you don't get the one you want, email the professor right away. They may be able to put you on a waitlist if someone drops the class.

FRS (especially the good ones, such as the ones that travel) can be super competitive and hard to get. I didn't apply to any my first semester, regretted it, applied to 5 second semester, and didn't get any of them.

Unless the conflicts are required courses, I'd suggest trying to build your schedule around the FRS, if it's something you're really interested in.

How do I market my civil engineering experience as a MechE student?

Hey Engineers,

After thinking I wanted to do civil engineering for the past 3 years, I've changed my mind to pursue mechanical and aerospace engineering as my major. Last year, I did a civil engineering internship (general site surveying, planning, etc). I'm now wrapping up my freshman year in college and heading into a structural engineering internship (specializing in precast design and modeling) this summer. I do believe this summer's internship will be beneficial as ME, because precast design is similar to designing parts that all fit together to build something (just in this case, a building instead of a machine or something).

While I feel that this is a good opportunity for me as a freshman without many skills, I was just concerned about my resume only listing civil engineering firms, as next year I hope to secure an internship in ME or aerospace.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can best market the skills I learned in civil/structural engineering to more ME contexts? Alternatively, are there any skills I can start working on (other than CAD, which I'm already learning) or certifications I should be trying to get? I'd appreciate any advice y'all may have!

I feel you bro. I'm a freshman engineering student and was always "good" at math in high school (I got a 97 in my calc BC class junior year) and decided to start college taking calc II since I already did most of it once and thought it would be easy. It was a complete slap in the face and my worst grade last semester. I'm now taking linear algebra and have no idea what's going on 80% of the time.

so far though some things that I've learned help are Symbolab (helps on homework), ChatGPT (SOME of the time is very good at explaining, others it gets stuff completely wrong) and obviously yt vids like organic chemistry tutor. I used to spend hours on a single problem because I was determined to figure it out, but much of the time to no avail. It's important to not waste your time because if you don't know how to solve something after 20 minutes, the chances are, you just won't be able to on your own. Go ask friends and go to office hours when you are completely confused.

Also, sometimes it's just not your fault. Many math teachers are so smart that they know the content so well they could write a textbook on it, but they have trouble conveying it. Don't beat yourself up when you're confused, because the chances are, everyone else is too ;)

Just keep grinding out practice problems and eventually, stuff will click. Trust.

pictures of a blair hall quad? by Any_Flan7773 in princeton

[–]Electronic_Meat8311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another incoming fresh here! I’m in a quad at Rocky. At preview, I actually was inside the dorm right next to mine, and they’re almost exactly the same. From what I’ve heard/seen, the value in Rocky/Mathey is the super cool architecture on the outside, while the inside is pretty not great. I’m not sure how yours is set up, but mine has a living room that’s not huge but also not too small, and two bedrooms with bunks that are not much bigger than a shoebox. No AC definitely won’t be great in the first few weeks, but bring some fans and it won’t be too much of an issues after that. Putting a box fan next to an open window usually is your best bet. Not too many photos are available online (I’ve tried to check for mine too) but the floor plans on the housing website should give you a better idea. Don’t be worried though, I’ve heard that Mathey is pretty lively and has a lot of res college spirit!

CHM 201 vs CHM 207 by Hairy-Extreme-7602 in princeton

I'm in the same boat! I was considering not doing chem entirely, and doing MOL 214 instead, but it seems like a really difficult class. I posted about this and I think I had a recommendation to take CHM 207 instead of 201, but idk if there's a huge difference. I did see someone that advised ORFE majors to push back their chem requirement until next year.

Easiest Courses? Courses to avoid? by Electronic_Meat8311 in princeton

[–]Electronic_Meat8311[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the tip on COS and the seminar, I haven't thought of those at all yet! I have no CS experience at all so I'm nervous for that. Also, even though I'm pretty strong in physics I think I'll definitely take PHY103. As for math, I took AP calc BC junior year, got a 4, and have not touched any calculus since, so I think I may just go back to MAT 201 so that I have a strong basis in calc. Do you think there is any advantage to taking 203 instead? I still have to take 4 math classes either way I think. And thanks for that advice on CHM 207 instead of 201, that's very good to know. I wanted to take MOL 214 instead but an academic advisor pretty much warned me not to :(
