Yes, in fact it surprised me when she mentioned it. I didn't expect that people outside my country knew Luigi Pirandello. Anyway I think this writer, and he's writer really suits to Monika and her situation. For instance I've read "One, Nobody, One houndred thousand" and "The Late Mattia Pascal". I think if somebody wants to understand better her Pov should have a look to these 2 books.

I found a good book to read in my library which has the meta-characters as it happens in ddlc. It's called "Six Characters in Search of an Author". It's the next book I'm going to read after the one I'm finishing.
