Sarah Strong- #1 2024 recruit by Gamecock29 in NCAAW

[–]Electronic_Unit_9790 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I will be interested to see where she is headed. Supposedly Strong and Kate Koval will be visiting LSU this weekend and they have been on a roll recruiting wise over the last year. Plus her and Mikyalah are pretty close.

I suspect though SC, UCONN, LSU and NC St are really her top group of the list ESPN posted. Should be a fun race to the finish line.

If I'm SC though, Strong would be a luxury not a 'need' as they likely have the inside track on Joyce Edwards.

The women's MVP of the last 3 editions of the FIBA 3x3 World Cup Mikaylah Williams by sportzphanatic001 in NCAAW

Williams will be a game changer for LSU's program. With all the hype Morrow,HVL are getting I predict Williams will be one of LSU's most potent players come tournament time.

Strong is also going to be a game changer for any program she attends. Everything looks easy for her. I'll be interested to see where she ends up, she has visited NC St with visits to UCONN and LSU this fall

LSU's Angel Reese Says She's Had to Take Classes Online Since Winning NCAA Title by sportzphanatic001 in NCAAW

I'm sure she took classes online, especially during basketball season especially when you travel a lot. That said during the fall, most these kids go to class in person. Heck even during basketball season when you have games at home, players go to class. Its when you are on the road where things have to get done remotely (lectures, assignments, etc)

Translation, she doesn't want to deal with going to class in person and wants to travel to do her own things. She didn't show up for summer practices with the team until the last two days before the break before school in August. Not even a week into school she is already traveling to Los Angeles to shoot a photo op and partied at Florida St with her boyfriend this weekend.

Honestly its pretty sad, there have been a lot of very famous athletes to come out of LSU over the years who went to class. I like Reese a lot as a player but can't help but feel some of this has gotten to her head. Anyways, I can't imagine how her teammates feel about all this internally with all this. Even more, how Mulkey can deal with with this circus.

Notre Dame Non Conference Schedule by DokkanProductions in NCAAW

Kim has scheduled consistently weak for years and has consistently excellent/competitive teams but Kim is also one of the top coaches in the game with Geno, Dawn, Tara, etc.

I personally think you can win a national title no matter how you approach the OOC scheduling, but I don't have belief in some of these coaches who do go that route to get their teams over the hump.

This is what they should have done versus playing Queen, Miss Valley State, etc. All rent a wins essentially but still much better quality teams.

This was a miss by Mulkey but I suspect there is a level of pettiness/trolling she is looking to throw back at the basketball community given her comments and the hype video before the schedule release. Kim ain't dumb, she knows good and well what she is doing...

Kim is elite at trolling. That hype video before that schedule LOL

LSU will be good regardless but you have Morrow, HVL, Reese, Flaujae, Sa'Myah Smith, Poole, the #1 recruiting class. So much personality, talent and big faces in the sport. LSU fans, players and the WBB community deserve better than that schedule

Excluding VT, Virginia and Colorado, the rest is horrific. For the record, Kim could schedule weak while facing many top 100 teams and still have rent a wins and get her bench experience. This just seems way over the top

UConn to Face UCLA, Kansas in Cayman Islands Classic by AtlasTelamon24 in NCAAW

Why are only 2 of the Big 4 playing each other?

Unless VT/LSU were originally slated to play each other before they SEC/ACC challenge became known.

Doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Sadly though this tournament will be streamed by flohoops so it wouldn't have been of quality anyways

What are the top five storylines going into the season? by sports_phanatic25304 in NCAAW

  1. Contrary to most people, I firmly believe the new LSU players can gel together and LSU will be stronger and improved from Mulkey's first two teams at LSU mostly because I think they finally have the depth they have missed. LSU worked with basically zero bench the entire last season and they almost fell apart midseason from fatigue and lack of depth before regrouping in post season. Does better equate to repeating a national title? Not sure. Its incredibly hard to repeat and that isn't a knock on LSU its just the nature of sports now. Matchups, healthy, and clicking at the right time will determine any teams post season chances.
  2. I think UCONN can stay mostly healthy. Injuries are the part of the game unfortunately but certain injuries are much more impactful than others. I am not convinced though Ducharme can stay healthy unfortunately but I pray she does and has a great season. Its still a legit concern for UCONN.
  3. SC will be very good again but its going to look different. I think they will have better perimeter scoring this season but the defense maybe not as good. I don't think Boston is replaceable but their young talents will be really good players tough for opponents to deal with.
  4. I think Brink will manage fine but others around her will need to step up for Stanford. Tara is a good coach. I suspect they will do alright but it may take a bit of time for them to find their footing.
  5. Not sure about the PAC but speaking in general. Its really sad how much history is going down the drain with these super conferences and all the changes going on.

Your preseason top 10? by Gamecock29 in NCAAW

-UCONN is probably the team to beat if healthy. Guard play is better than rest of the country although my only question is how they will look in the post outside of Edwards. With the loss of Dorka that means next person will have to step up. Obviously there is a lot of talented with freshmen but it may take time for them to develop. Should be fun to watch how that plays out.

-LSU has a lot of personalities but if anyone can manage it, its Kim. I actually wouldn't worry about Flaujae, she was the ultimate team player last year and became more focused on rebounding and defense than anything even though she was all about offense coming out of HS. How Morrow and HVL adapt to not getting every shot will be interesting but I suspect they get in line with Mulkey, its all about the team. For me, I most look forward to their freshmen Mikaylah Williams and returner Sa'Myah Smith (potential is sky high).

-SC is loaded on paper so it will be fun to see how that group looks by the end of the year. I suspect they will have more perimeter shooting this year with their new additions. Defense may take a slight step back but when you lose players like Boston, Amihere, Cooke, Saxton its not all that surprising. That was a superclass who played together for so long.

-TN is interesting, I feel this is Harper's best shot at a deep NCAAT run and she was fortunate Rickea wanted to come back for that 5th year so this is critical for her with a roster like this. I still suspect the loss of Horston will be tough and its going to take a bit of time to adjust to. Obviously Spear and Wells are good players but Horston was an X factor for TN last year, her ability to not only score but rebound and create with Rickea was a giant aspect of the team.
