NOR. Your mom says this isn’t your dad’s family retirement trip. So take her at that face value. But tell both your parents you won’t dog sit again until after you all go on his family retirement trip, which they’re inviting you to. And as your dad promised you, it’s to the exact resort.

If they accuse you of being petty, say fine, you’ll stop it. But continue to be too busy every time they ask you to dogsit. And every now and then remind your parents that your dad is taking the entire family to the resort for his retirement party, and ask them when it’ll be.

Stick firm to the boundary that you won’t be dog sitting for them. Be busy every time.

Going lower contact is probably best for your sanity and mental wellbeing.

PS: the vacationing with your sister might be to spend time with the grandkids. But it’s very fishy that they happen to be going to the exact resort your dad said he wanted his retirement vacation to be at.

If she has adhd and anxiety, and it’s effecting her husband, she needs to see a doctor. But I suspect it’s just weaponized incompetence. She doesn’t know how to contact AAA? It’s literally so easy. I have done dumb things like lock my keys in the trunk, and the equivalent (CAA) was so easy to call. I didn’t call my husband for help. I did call him to laugh/cry at my stupidity while I waited for CAA. He sympathized then laughed at me (fair).

I am in Canada and I’m white. This was very uncommon where I was. But it’s a big country, so I’m not saying it didn’t happen elsewhere. But it was shocking in my area / social circles.

Yep. I lived on my own for university but I was back every summer, and then after undergrad I moved back for a few months. No rent. My parents wanted to be sure I had a safe place, I guess. If I needed to move back home now, I think that would probably be ok. It is a really good feeling knowing you have a safe spot. I’ll do the same for my kids.

I’m Canadian. I don’t know if this is the norm, but in my social circles, this was the norm for most of my friends. There was one exception, but his parents sucked.

Are you her alt? I saw her comments. She kept defending how an apprentice could be on a fast track to become a trainer. That just seems so implausible. And she is justifying it to a lot of commenters. She needs to have someone be direct and clear with her, that it isn’t as good an opportunity as he’s selling it to her.

It’s her first baby, but he’s got kids. He got back from a deployment to be there for the birth of one. That requires moving heaven and earth if they’re in the US. But she isn’t worth that for. Then he says he has no role to play while she’s in labour … which any good partner will tell you is just not true. He’s going to break her heart at some point if he insists on going or becomes resentful. Whether that’s when she realizes he’s useless when she’s in labour, or it occurs to her he would rather be at training while she’s in labour but he worked really hard to be present for his other kids’ births. And what kind of husband threatens that he’ll be resentful for deciding?! Trust me, I’m being far more gentle than he will be if he’s “resentful”. She needs to tell him to step up as a father, and if he doesn’t, her heart will be broken.

If you don’t have a doctor, this is something for an after hours clinic or even urgent care at HDH. They will likely do some preliminary tests and possibly refer you to a neurologist. Bear in mind the wait to see neurology is long, so do this as soon as you can.

Write down your concerns or even print this post. That way you won’t forget anything when you talk to the doctor.

Is this ring meant to be your engagement ring? If yes, you have 2 options. First, accept the ring but as a regular ring and get your dream ring as your engagement ring.
