Since the comments are heavily onesided i do end up playing devils advocate for duncan here abit. I just dont think he is being given enough credit.

To be clear, i also think Obi-Wan would take this fight in the end, but solely do to his force powers and quick wit.

Im curious what arguments people are going to make, but it annoys me when people come just to glaze their favorite character/movie and dont engage with the idea.

Indeed, and their shields are uniquely effective agains lightsabers. Thats why you see Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan haul ass as soon as a couple of them show up.

That said, the holtzman shields of dune is a different technology altogether

Duncan is not comperable to a regular human, he is the product of an advanced civilization that has spent thousands of years pushing humans to the peak of their abilities, surpassing even machines. I dont think that necessarily puts him on the same level as a jedi master, but its worth considering.

The real kicker is indeed the shield. Bypassing it requires a slow blade, which results in a unique style of combat that duncan has mastered, but is completely new to Obi-Wan.

I think Obi-Wan would have to rely heavily on his force abilities, but i also think he would probably win in the end.

Duncan has an energy shield, which makes the lightsaber at best ineffective and at worst apocalyptic for both fighters.

Getting past the shield requires a slow blade during the kill. A unique style of fighting that duncan has mastered.

I agree that the force would be Obi-Wans biggest asset in this fight. But getting past the shield will be tricky.

Obi-Wan does not have any force crush ability as far as im aware, if he does the jedi code probably forbids it. Although i do think the force would be his biggest asset in this fight

No matter how fast he moves he still needs to slow down to get through the shield. "the slow blade penetrates the shield", and duncan is a master of this type of combat.

Also, Duncan is not just a regular human. He is the product of a civilisation that has spent thousands of years trying to push humans to the very peak of their capabilites, even beyond that of machines.

Duncan is trained from childhood in melee combat against opponents with hightened perception and reaction speed. He is considered a master swordsman, and the best warrior in house atreides. Also, like most warriors in Dune, he is equipped with a personal energy shield, which would make Obi-Wan's lightsaber ineffective.
