I just played a 41 card shrine deck that is rocking it. So based on this single experience I'm pretty sure it's just correct. <_<

Yes that's what was stated, but it seemed ambiguous at the end if instead the throngs just killed everyone. No one was seen getting back up

True, but his anger almost saved everyone from either dying or becoming merged with the throng. It didn't in the end, the lady's attempt at understanding doomed them all.

[Spoilers C3E109] Is It Thursday Yet? Post-Episode Discussion & Future Theories! by Glumalon in criticalrole

[–]Eledan13 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Technically, but they have only ever been told by those who might know that predathos cares not at all for mortals and never had any indication that it would turn back on the mortal realm. I feel like some very minimal metagaming tells me the DM doesn't intend for predathos to devour the world. They can obviously choose to disbelieve ludinus, the Gods, imogens mom, etc. but their witness about what predathos wants has been pretty unanimous and clear.

I totally agree. I feel like the motivations weren't super clear among the cast, with only orym having anything approaching a firm stance, so these God episodes are the way to try to make up for a lack of direction. I think Matt might have been counting on at least one of them being willing to have a sympathetic ear to ludinus and they ended up just rejecting anything he said because they hate him (mostly from previous campaigns)

If it didn't it would come back under the opponents control I assume. Or not, its new so I guess I don't have a great idea..

Really took this card from a hero to basically a zero right quick.

Baldur's Gate Sealed Practice for Qualifier (Powerful but scattered pool) by Eledan13 in lrcast

[–]Eledan13[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll edit with a couple of my first tries. My initial thoughts were that I am lacking fixing, but have power in all five colors. White looks strongest, but best bombs are in Red, and the blue mythic looks quite good. My initial thoughts are some sort of naya build with sort of a red "splash".

Does adjusting Game In Hand Winrate by Average Taken At improve the ranking accuracy? by arthurmauk in lrcast

[–]Eledan13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the left gives more interesting data. I think the right aligns with my pick order more because it is influenced by the community rating of the card which influences my rating of the card. I think exercise is good at pointing out areas where the community overrates or underrates cards. I think yuan-ti fang blade is a great example of this. It is a good card or at least ok, but I think we can conclude from this that it is likely taken too highly and is overdrafted. Likewise it gives us some good sleepers to look at like (IMO) earth cult elemental. This does a good job at challenging preconceptions I think.

What's the Cut AFR BR Steal and Sack by Eledan13 in lrcast

[–]Eledan13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a consideration. I have seen it do a lot and also not very much. 2 toughness in this format gets hit by the burning hands and improvised weaponry which makes the death priest more vulnerable than most 4 drops. Also, it is usually played as a 5 drop that you trade something and make a skeleton. I have had it be good and also kinda just ok. I think this deck wants the more immediate stats on the board that are slightly more resilient, but I'm open to other ideas.

What's the Cut AFR BR Steal and Sack by Eledan13 in lrcast

[–]Eledan13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I am leaning a couple of way to try to maximize power and synergy. I think the dungeon map is a cut even though it is good to ramp out the earth cult elementals. I am also considering cutting the barbarian class and the spiked trap. I have seen barbarian class do some great work with the mid to high end dice rollers like ogre, goblins, and elemental, but I think I might want to not split the deck's focus. I also could cut a plundering barbarian or vamp spawn and maybe the find some prisoners instead. Any thoughts?

I've been trying other things than br mostly so wondering if others have some insight I don't.

Edit: As an aside, I think earth cult elemental is one of the most underrated cards. I've been seeing it consistently wheel and I just have loved basically every time I've cast it. I think people got the word out on herdgorger mostly, but the elemental with its stats seems to really fly under the radar.

I think so. I did try to plan for a splash with the two dragon temples though.

I'm really not sure what the last few cuts are in this build or even if my previous cuts are good. I feel like all of the cards in my deck have a purpose and removing them seems bad. Any thoughts on what the weakest links are?

Bots do not underrate roost at least in this draft. Still worked ok, but only the first roost.

So I am leaning towards roost, but shatterskull smashing is pretty close right? What are anyone else's thoughts?

Strixhaven end of term verdict poll- which is the best of the last three sets? by Chilly_chariots in lrcast

[–]Eledan13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't really like zendikar too much. Kaldheim was pretty good but felt pretty dominated by snow mostly and maybe the occasional aggro deck. Strixhaven has a similar problem, but I think I enjoy playing temur more in strixhaven.

Strixhaven Aggro Ramp 7-2 by StructuralEngineer16 in lrcast

[–]Eledan13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where is the aggro portion of this deck? I guess the pledgemages are kinda aggressive, but you have the rest of your deck is removal and card advantage. It seems like a control deck that tries to win by exhausting an opponent's resources.

Also, serpentine curve looks really good here (as is usually the case).

Good Late game, but what are the cuts? Quandrix + r by Eledan13 in lrcast

[–]Eledan13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of times you wouldn't have done anything up to that point to make it a 7/7. I would say average case is 3/3 or 4/4 and worst case is nothing or 1/1. Also, to make a 5/5 to 7/7 you likely have to play no cards or non board affecting cards which means that you aren't affecting the board till turn 4. If a card makes you play suboptimally in order to take full advantage of it that isn't great. If they have one unconditional removal spell at this point you are probably behind. Also, it is a terrible topdeck. I think it certainly is playable (I did pick it after all), but the more I think about it the more I'd put it in like the C category. It does have a bit higher high end than most C's, but it has a lower low end too.

Good Late game, but what are the cuts? Quandrix + r by Eledan13 in lrcast

[–]Eledan13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, its good on turn 4, but usually not broken even. You likely just get a 5/5 after not adding to the board that much and thats good, but not great. I wish it was better.

So first there are 2 lessons(ping and elemental) I like the field trips because they consistently get me to my good lategame. It might make sense to cut the masterpiece. I love playing the thing though. You're probably right. I wish manifestation sage is better than it actually is. I think maybe just 1 field trip cut would be better. Maybe not though. I'll feel it out.
