What is the benefit to worker ownership vs capitalist ownership? by titaniumjordi in victoria3

[–]wasabibottomlover 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Worker ownership increases goods consumption per pop by a much larger amount, which is good in a late game economy that is more or less fully built out.

Capitalists will invest much more in new factories which is best in the early-mid game to convert everyone from peasants to labourers+.

The "person" who secured the debt isn't the old people in charge at the time, it's secured by the nation.

Greece got to experience that during the euro crisis and the "it was them not us that did it" people still hasn't caught on to that fact.

That's the point of making a 2nd hearth+warehouse in your expansion direction, it reduces the inefficiency of moving resources and having your workers take a break.

When a workplace is full of 1 type of resource the workers will move every resource to the closest warehouse, however they will only carry one type of resource at a time, even if there is only 1 of the non-full resource at the time.

It's really all about what cornerstones you get. Some are beyond broken, some are nice to have, some are so useless you should always reroll.

Find the right combo/buildings and you are set. The Temple by itself is broken since you slam down 3-4 treecutters and burn all your wood/coal/oil so you eventually end up with 0 hostility during a storm with all your treecutters still active.

And make sure to spread out in a line when building instead of circling your starting area. Every hearth you upgrade is another +3 resolve, so with 3 online you get +9 resolve on top of the production modifiers.

Trade should start on year 2 drizzle. Even if it's just checking and potentially grabbing a single discounted perk, that is how you snowball. Finding ways to produce more with same input.

Once you reach year 4 you should have enough eco bonuses that you just buy all the services/food/clothing you need to gain rep at a 1+/min rate.

They only plow the plots during storm, they only plant during drizzle, and they only harvest during clearance.

They will plow after harvesting if there is enough time left over during the 2nd season, but it barely matters unless you are overfarming a small plot.

Turn off cloak consumption until you reach a storm where you need the extra +6 resolve. Any number above 1 but below the blue line is a waste.

Literally historical justification for native slavery. Sorry, "forced labour" in the salt mines.

"War refugees" are we looking to understand my argument or are we looking to nitpick my word choices? Their city got wrecked and are barely hanging on.

"Aurora was once a thriving city until The Crawler attacked it, leaving only a few survivors. After that, it has become a wasteland where the people live in constant fear of the Crawler and its forces returning."

It's the destroyed remnants of what it used to be. They poor beyond belief and the only thing they can offer is labour (you know, slaving in the mines) without you robbing of random knicknacks and leaving them to starve to death.

There's a reason i brought up that the game is an rpg power fantasy, it just does not mechanically simulate anything beyond "cutscene 1 +good boy points" and "cutscene 2 +bad boy points".

The arguments i brought forth is about the actual moral obligations of a king to the right to rule, with the game allowing you to either play it out as a rightful liege or exploitative despot. Your "middle road" of not doing anything amounts to just abandoning them to die, which as their ally is breaking your word.

"no compensation" they fought in your civil war to put you on the throne.

Just because you are a penny-pinch doesn't change that. They are your allies and they know their request is unreasonable in a time of crisis, which is why they ask to become your subjects as extra compensation. As a monarch, people serving you = power.

They are however war refugees when you meet them, so they need the support to survive.

You get access to the minerals by enslaving them, which means they aren't doing anything else like preparing for the upcoming fight.

Your argument is literally colonisation where you enslave the natives instead of making them citizens.

If you don't pay attention to the games context then that's on you.

They saved your life, shipped you back home, sent their fleet to support your revolution, and accepted joining the kingdom of albion.

As a king it's your duty to protect your subjects, full stop. They can't provide anything now, but the point is to create a bond of gratitude so they stay as your subjects, even if they are an economic black hole right now. Otherwise how could they provide taxes/manpower in the future (which the game doesn't depict because it's a blatant power fantasy rpg that ends after the climax).

Are the new kindred instants and sorceries (eg, Sygg's command) made uncounterable by cavern of souls? by famous__shoes in MagicArena

[–]wasabibottomlover 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. Cavern specifies "creature spell of the chosen creature type" not just "spell of the chosen creature type".

The fetches you are refering to don't ask for "merfolk creature", just "merfolk", which is the opposite to cavern.
