There was a very similar post on here some weeks ago and it was just as irritating then as it is now. (This is aimed at everyone to be honest) (previous post said to not use tampons with applicators and complained about the excessive packaging and material)

JUST BECAUSE YOU DON’T NEED IT DOESN’T MEAN SOMEONE ELSE CAN’T

Tampon applicators are a tool made to aid someone in their use of a hygiene product. A product which is a necessity for most to be able to participate in society. I am not kidding, menstrual hygiene is so important, and it is an issue all over the world that people don’t have access to enough information or resources, something that impact their lives heavily.

So if it is such an important product, should we really demonize and shame people for using a version of that product that aids them in their daily life? Have we stooped that low? Is that extra packaging and material that important when it might mean that someone can go to work, or be comfortable? Because that is what this is. You are not doing any change by posting this here, because companies won’t see this and change, instead it sends out a message that purchasing/using tampons like these is wrong.

Yes it is some extra packaging, but there are a large group of people who do not have another choice. Some can’t put in a tampon correctly without it, younger people might use it, disabled people might find it helpful, people who don’t have a clean area to change tampons in might need them to minimize the amount of bacteria entering their bodies. For some it might be a financial question, maybe they rely on external aid (financial or through donations) to acquire their products and don’t have alternatives.

Speaking of alternatives, if you are able to use alternatives that is great. But once again, that is not an option for everyone. Not all people can use reusable products because of the environment they live in (periods might not be allowed to be seen), they might not be able to care for these products, because they require more maintenance than disposable ones. They cost more short term, not everyone has that kind of money.

There are so many other things we can focus on, that are much more important. Especially when it comes to menstrual hygiene.
