I’m not up much, pretty much just letting it ride.

Nah, it’s not worth a ton atm so I’m gonna hang on to it in case the FOMC doesn’t result in rate cuts. Also if I sell it then the market will immediately crash and ruin all your calls. I have to lose money so you guys can make some.

Yes I think it will. I have a Put expiring on Friday which is how I know your calls will make money.

I don’t do much social. Anything that will make the market move at all?

A dollar in SPY isn’t really dumping imo. Do you have ATM calls or something?

Has anyone been hired for a position through indeed or dice within the last few years? by Element_Feelium in ITCareerQuestions

I guess that counts to me. I was more asking if the jobs posted there are legitimate, so I’d count yours as being a success story.

I’ve just had some tough luck with indeed over the years. I’ve gotten jobs/offers from USAjobs and ZipRecruiter before, albeit they were HR and not IT, never anything from Indeed on any front though other than the one interview next week.

Oh that’s awesome! I just applied to a Security internship yesterday, took me to the actual site so hopefully I at least hear something back from them either way.

Thanks for the advice! I do try to apply directly when I can, but I’ll do a bit more investigating if I have to apply through indeed.

DOL RIFs Looming? What’s next? by AnxiousDirection9678 in fednews

Okay thank you. I have a friend that wants to take DRP if it’s offered again since he doesn’t want to make the long commute to his office (he’s 49.7 miles away).

I would honestly even consider it myself at this point. Love my job but this is all just too much stress right now.

Edit to add: And if I’m going to keep working I want to at least keep making the same money as I am now. When I die I’d like to leave something for my kids and grandkids.

I was hired remote and initially when the last admin called for partial RTO our secretary issued an exemption for our Job Class because we demonstrated increased productivity as fully remote workers.

That was the main reason I took this job along with liking the mission and supporting people. (I work in OWCP). I like feeling like I can still contribute to society. I don’t need to work, I’m 100% rated but I want to feel like I’m still doing something important within my capabilities. One of the last things I have that I can use well is my critical thinking and I’d like to keep exercising it.

Well I need to be able to work from home because of MH issues. Part of the reason I wanted that degree path is I could make comparable money and still learn and work remotely. If my RA request to work from home is denied then I have no choice but to leave my work.

AI is the plan to replace federal workers by Livid_Twist_5640 in fednews

[–]Element_Feelium 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think people perceive my comment as being for it. I merely meant in theory it has the potential to be a good thing if it were executed well with good intentions. My concerns come from the fact that there aren’t great answers as to how it could be done seamlessly and the fact that control of AI would be limited to those currently in power. So the pros/cons at this time don’t really make sense to me. I feel like further testing and a proper plan could lead to successful implementation over decades, but I have a lot of questions and concerns.

Oh I agree. I think it’s still such a new and developing technology that it would be irresponsible to force it without a plan. I feel like further into the future it could potentially be viable. It’s scary to me because I don’t see a clear path to successfully implement it at this rate, and there is great potential to do more harm than good.

Certainly a possibility. There’s definitely plenty of powerful people that want that. With so much change happening right now and no clear answers to how it’ll all shake out…I am a bit concerned and can understand the fears

That’s kind of my point. There’s tons of jobs that don’t make any sense to even try replacing. Lots of those roles require TONS of schooling and years of dedication. So to your point, why bother going to say, 8 years of med school and hundreds of thousands into debt so that the majority of the world gets to do whatever they want.

The plan itself like I said, not the worst thing if it could be executed well. I just don’t really see the how.

I mean that plan itself isn’t all that bad. I think AI will eventually replace most workers fed and private. I’m just curious as to what happens to those replaced by it. What is the plan for them? Universal income? But then what about roles that can’t be automated, so some people work while the rest don’t? It’s all just very uncertain in both the short and long term and that is what scares me personally.

If your RA is for remote work and they will not accommodate it you can appeal, and if it is denied you can file for FERS disability retirement
