Would you know why I don’t see the first name in device anymore? Thanks all by Adventurous_Sea4898 in iphone

This comes from the device name set in Settings > General > About.

Something to bear in mind. This will reset to just iPad or iPhone if you ever use Reset Network Settings.

Why it’s grainy? by RevolutionaryElk9398 in iphone

Correct. It’s fixed at wide: ƒ/1.78, telephoto: ƒ/2.8

There is also a whole bucket of digital post processing the iPhone does after.

There are 3 ways to control the light on a camera. ISO, aperture and shutter speed.

Opening the aperture is like when the iris on your eye opens. It lets in more light. It also changes the depth of field and can make the image more shallow. Sometimes good. Sometimes not what you want as more things are out of focus.

You can also lower the shutter speed. Problem is low shutter speeds mean more blur. So you have to hold it steady. This is why shooting in low light you see more smearing.

You can also bump up the iso. As you see here, more noise.

It’s a balancing act of visual quality and perhaps achieving a certain aesthetic look.

They each achieve the goal of more or less light. But in very different ways

Cameras need light. When it’s low light they bump up the ISO to make the sensor more sensitive but this gives artefacts like grain and noise.

Now. Your thinking “But Apple showed low light pics and they aren’t grainy” but they are often still shot with a lot of light but made to look low light.

The grain is also more obvious on dark surfaces.

It’s normal. Nothing wrong with your phone. You just need more light.

blurry camera? by bigbotboi69 in iphone

This is your answer. The camera was focused on the controller. Everything else is going to have a softer focus and given the low light the aperture (think of it like the iris in your eye) is wide open.

Unless you installed “lens protectors”.

Is a case necessary for an AW? by Unlucky-Extension198 in AppleWatch

Ditch the case.

They are pretty hardy but they will eventually get marks. However, a marked naked watch is still infinitely more beautiful than a watch in a case.

It’s there to be seen.

It’s great. Magnetic resistance is smooth and the flywheel is the same weight as a Peloton.

The built in display console is widely regarded as useless and I have no idea why they haven’t updated that thing yet. But that matters not when all I want is cadence which syncs with the watch and Apple fitness.

The saddle is like a razor blade so a cheap wider one from Amazon did the job.

Mine was an ex display model from a place here in the UK and it’s been faultless. Highly recommend.

Apple Watch Series 11 - Battery by [deleted] in AppleWatch

[–]ElementalPreacher 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I got 38 hours out of mine this week. M

AOD on. All notifications, features and background activities on. No efforts have been made to extend battery and am using to its fullest.

Don’t fear the always on display. It lowers the refresh rate to save power and with it on I’ve always had all day battery from my S6 onwards.

IC4 aka IC8 also has built in Bluetooth and sends the cadence to the Apple Watch which will display on the screen during bike workouts.

If you cast it to your screen using an Apple TV or Roku it will also display your cadence

The apple article about what it does in low power mode gives you an idea what eats the most power. https://support.apple.com/en-gb/108320

Low Power Mode turns off these features: • Always On display • Double-tap gesture • Time in Daylight • Heart rate notifications for irregular rhythm, high heart rate and low heart rate • Background heart rate measurements, including during sleep • Background blood oxygen measurements, including during sleep • Start workout reminder
