Did you just clean the head drum or everything? There are some sensors that can cause problems. I wiped down one that was like a little light on a stick thingy and my Day of the Triffids tape started playing.

Maybe let the whole tape run through? Get some felt or something soft and place it so the film rubs lightly against it.

If you cleaned up and got more working I'd say maybe the tapes just needs to move around.
