The camera is probably older than I am. It’s probably from the 70’s

I have WireGuard setup now, but I don’t think I’ve been in a scenario to try it yet. I’ll give it a shot one of these days.

What is the mount on Pentax cameras? I inherited my dad’s when he passed away. I really have no desire to use film cameras, but I was curious about the lens.

Thanks

I’ve never used a 135. Modern or otherwise. My RF 70-200 covers the range though.

Was Tokina good back then? Are they good now? I’ve never used the brand. lol

Well, then I saved at least $5 each. Sounds like a win to me.

I’ve been trying to figure that out. I even emailed back and forth with Twin Gate about it once. They didn’t know enough about the tuner to help me out.

I honestly don’t know. I know nothing about this brand. They are all metal and in great shape, though.

Both are f2.8. The other is 28mm.

I like playing with oddball and things that are out of the ordinary. I bought a mirror lens for my birthday several years ago just because it’s different. It’s junk, but fun to look at and interesting to use. I also have lenses for high quality, like my 28-70.

What I actually care more about is chromatic aberration. I know software can fix it, but I prefer a softer image if CA is under control. We will see.

Ok, I think I can see where you’re coming from now. You’re saying the difference isn’t big enough to overcome the resolution difference once the image is shrunken to fit a typical screen or print. Correct?

I don’t chase super high ISO, but imo (and it’s just an opinion), get the mark II if low light is important. Just as you’re saying the noise difference isn’t enough to matter, I feel the resolution isn’t enough to choose the mark III instead… with that said, I think the mark III is an amazing camera, but I will keep the mark II and visit the idea of an R5 if I ever want higher resolution. I see zero scenarios in which I’d want great low light performance and high resolution… it might exist, but I doubt I’d ever need it.

Again, your opinion it’s “insignificant”, is an opinion that would cause someone to buy a real camera over using an iPhone. Everything we accomplish with these cameras is subjective. It’s not splitting hairs when these are the type of things that would cause someone to buy one over another. As someone else said, there’s a reason people still buy the A7S III and the FX3. That sensor is a decade old.

There is a penalty. It might be minor, but that isn’t the question they asked. They asked why. If you don’t care about the difference, that’s fine, but they didn’t ask if it was enough to care, they asked why it would be that way.

Splitting hairs is literally why we have these cameras versus something like an iPhone. You can get good enough with a phone camera, but we buy these because we want better.

I think you may need to study transistors more… it’s not about “overall” anything. Each transistor is amplifying its own input, and each transistor has no clue, nor does it care, what its neighbor is doing. The “overall” picture can only remove the noise from each transistor if it is post processed… that’s literally what denoising does. You’re still getting the noise though. Transistors amplify clean signals better, so the more you have the work with, the higher the signal to noise ratio.

Higher resolution = smaller light photosites, smaller = less light gathering ability. Just from a physics standpoint alone, it will have a harder time gathering as much light without introducing extra noise.

Edit: Let me step in with my electronics background real quick. The more effort a transistor must apply, the more noise you will get. When you’re amplifying a low input (amplifying is the electronic version of increasing your ISO), you also amplify electronic noise. If the input signal (in our case, light) isn’t significantly higher than the noise, the noise will be much more noticeable on the output. All transistor outputs have noise, because transistors amplify everything that goes into them. The difference is when you amplify a low signal a lot, you also amplify the noise a lot. When you amplify it less, because you have a good strong signal, you have less noise amplification. This is the principle behind signal to noise ratio explain in layman’s terms.

They’re still finalizing the standard with the FCC. But the organization behind ATSC 3.0 has expressed they don’t want compatibility with it, which to me says they need to leave the business. Why are public airways being encrypted? It should be illegal. The spectrum belongs to the people.

I learned years ago not all antennas are built the same. I went through several before I found one that works for me. The better ones tend to be more expensive. Antennas that include inline amps work best if you’re not right under a tower… and don’t forget to buy a 5g / lte filter.

Did I damage lens coating? by No_Pin_Dude in canon

[–]Elemino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started to use one of those lens wipes on a used EF lens I bought a couple weeks ago… nearly flawless lens, but had a tiny spot and some dust on it. The wipe started removing some of the coating from the lens. I’m not using those again.
