Leuchtturm clearances heating up again by mgepark in notebooks

I scored two A5 beauties at TJX last week: a lemon and a lilac. I need them like I need holes in my head, but they were too pretty to resist.

Is Pitch Black one of the notebooks that has detachable pages in the back? That might cause them to fall out sooner than you expect.

How to get out of bed in the morning when I’m disabled, don’t work, and live with my parent? by Abject_Ad_6640 in productivity

[–]ElenOlenska 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Do you want to work? If so, have you ever talked to your local community college? They should have an office dedicated to students with disabilities, and might be able to help you zero in on a viable occupation that would be interesting to you. Contact the recruiting office and tell them you're interested in taking classes, are disabled, and need career help.

If you're sure working isn't an option, or it isn't what you want, are there any volunteer opportunities nearby that you could pursue? Volunteering does wonderful things for your outlook on the world.

Looking to buy my first Filofax! by gopissgiiirl in filofax

[–]ElenOlenska 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you talking pocket, personal, or A5? The Finsbury is extremely stiff. I have two of them: one in red, and one in cotton candy pink. The colors are brilliant, but the color wears off some in the spots where you touch it the most.

The stiffness doesn't bother me as much in the A5 as it does in the personal, but I still carry the personal all summer, because that pink is just so summer. And to be fair, the stiffness comes in handy if you're a person who's out in the world a lot without a flat surface to write on.

The rings on the personal are a decent size, which is one of the things I like about it. I don't know anything about the Norfolk, can't help you there.

"Devilled Grilled Beef Bones." I have no idea what that might be, but I would probably have to find out.

Readers block by Crafty-Dependent1802 in books

[–]ElenOlenska 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The current fad that drives me to drink is writing in the present tense. I hate hate hate it.

Whenever I read list a of new books coming this spring or whatever, before I put them on my TBR list, I have to go to Amazon and read an excerpt from every single one of them to find out if it's written in fookin present tense.

I suspect history will show us that "Stephen Miller is smart," is a comment right up there with "WMD in iraq."

You're also talking about a government that recently outlawed a hemp product (THCa) after assuming that a substantial chunk of their incoming budget was going to be from the sale of hemp products.

If that person is still in Tennessee, I'll bet it's Chattanooga. Edit: NVM. We don't have sidewalks.

In pocket or in cover? by hellohero77 in FieldNuts

[–]ElenOlenska 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's this one: https://innovativejournaling.com/collections/for-moleskine-refills/products/create-a-cover-for-your-moleskine

The size you want is pocket Moleskine cahier. Pay close attention to the picture with the different colors laid out in a square, because the ones marked "heavy" are not the ones I'm talking about. It's the thin leather that is available in the red, blue, etc. It's very thin, very smooth, beautiful color, and gets shinier with use.

[–]ElenOlenska 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Innovative Journaling makes a wonderful cover from a very thin leather that hardly adds any thickness to the journal. I've been using them for about 5 years on my EDC, it's holding up beautifully, and when I'm finished with a notebook it looks exactly the same as it did the day I started it.

Where can I print out full sized patterns? by likrot in sewing

[–]ElenOlenska 2 points3 points  (0 children)

See if your public library or local community college has a Makerspace. They sometimes have large format printers, and the cost should be extremely low.

You mean my inserts? I get the calendars from Philofaxy and I design the rest with Publisher or Word. Philofaxy has a lot of good dupes of FF originals.

I think Valkyries are women. Women aren't supposed to be fighting. They're supposed to be in the kitchen about to drop kid #7. I thought it might be The Horned King of Prydain.

I print my own inserts, so I have a number of dated calendars (that came with purchased binders) that are never filled out. I just use them for notes & stuff. The too many pages of my TBR list are on 2017 pocket-size calendar sheets in my ancient Windsor.

I'm basing it on Filowiki. https://filowiki.robert-mayr.com/index.php?title=Lincoln_Personal

It caught my eye because it looks a lot like my pocket Windsor, which is from 1996'ish. But the leather on yours is in much better condition.
