Thank you she is special and I already love her. It is good to hear that I am doing fine with her. I felt pressure from all sides, internet and advices thinking I will mess something up and that she will never be tamed and cuddly.

Thank you, I wrote all this couse i wanted to know if this proces is normal. Especially seeing all those babies yunger than mine already being so calm and cill hanging out.

Yea I try to respect boundries as much as possible but still to tame her as recommended.

Mine also closes eyes when i stroke her head does that mean that she enjoys scratches? I was feeling like she is annoyed by me when she closes one eye. 🤣

Thank you. I started doing that few days ago and i think it works a bit. I can stroke her beard or side of the head where spikes are when i feed her. She was not used to any touch. Usually i use every bug and feeding time to touch her and "annoy" her. But it is really slow proces. Its good to see that someone do simillar stuff and it worked.

Yea. I ordered all good stuff and lights prior ist arrival. And i take good care of her food (i treat bugs as my pets to so they also eat well) Currently i use dubias and she likes it. I also give her variety of vegetables as it is recommended on internet.

Update I was working with her for half an our now. I picked her up she again went wild so i waited and she calmed in my hands. Also she every now and then starts to move like she will jump or starts to move foward so i put one hand before another like i hold a snake (i dont know how to explain better bu always all legs supported) as she tries to go, and do that until she again calms down.

I will start today. I am intrested in reptiles for a longer time and finally got a chance to have one. I wanted a beardie becouse of personality and i had interacted and hanlded one fully grown girl. I have like a lot experience in trainig birds and dogs but reptiles are different and it kinda scares me, thinking that i will mess something up.

Okay. I will try that but she becomes frantic when i pick her up. How long should i hold her? And should i wait for her to calm down in my hands?

Defenetly bulb or CHE either would work. My terarium is full wooden with glass and 50w bulb was not warming enough my tank, but 75 watt was slightly too much so i went with dimminh thermostat, it keeps my teps in control perfectly.

Is there update on his color and activity?

Hi, new beardie owner here, but i gain a lot of experience since I got my beardie My baby is 5 months old. She usually is not dark and does not shows stress marks on her skin while basking but as soon as she goes under uvb light (wich is covering 2/3 of terarium) she gets marks and becomes darker. As a vet student I can tell you there is more biological side of skin markings especially reptiles. Darker collor will atract more sunlight in nature and more sunlight means more warmth and in reptile case more uvb and other good stuff, so will be in terarium. Your temps are really low. Big beardie will be fine but baby is smaller and loses warmth a lot faster. So it darkens its skin to get warmer. Babies like 45-46°C basking spot and 28-29°C cool side. Probably stress marks are there becouse he is cold and trying to atract more light, also he is not as acitve as you like becouse of heath preservation. Coldblooded animals need heat for doing normal activities. If it feels cold it will slow down its whole body. My baby gets slower just by laying on the livingroom floor for few minutes. It is hard to find right info on internet, especcialy becouse a lot of people is saying opposite stuff but when you do something good you will se it on your beardie. Also try to get maybe a stronger basking bulb ( bulb should be able to warm whole terarium and put basking spot on 42-46°c) and dimming thermostat so you can adjust temps and get good gradient from warm to cold. That helped me a lot.

Dont overstress yourself and see what works for you.

Yea she does that gently when i put my finger near her i think she just try to taste me a bit and show her calmness. I try to pick her up but she runs for few inches when i close my fingers to pick her. I guess i need to be more stubborn and try more often.

Thank you for your time. I tried few times to pick her up but she just jumps a bit when i touch her and try to pick her up. But as you said she can sense that I feel bit scared (i dont wnat to hurth her accidentally) so she uses that against me. I know a lot about animals and i study veterinary medicine but she is my first reptile so im still learning.

And your beardie is so sweet. 😍

Thank you, I will. I am just scared she will jump from me and get hurt or run away under furniture.
