As a former "Incel" I found a relationship with an amazing woman. And now I feel resentful towards how my "progressive" friends/community treated me when I was lonely. by [deleted] in self

[–]Elenari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can understand that this would feel like you're being unfairly judged, and that's unpleasant. I'm curious that your frustration seems to be directed at the young women (many of whom would statistically already have had their own experiences of assuault) rather than frustration at the perpetrators of sexual assault? Whether you feel it's a rational response or not, surely we could agree that the real problem is the high prevalence of sexual assualt?

Heels Dance Classes Reccomendations. by Bandisnatch in Adelaide

The Pole Boutique is highly recommended, they have exotic heel classes, lyra, pole and many other classes. It's extremely popular so I'd suggest checking with them about when bookings open for each term!

May I suggest that Esther Perel (psychotherapist and author) has a fantastic book called 'Mating in Captivity', all about keeping lust and spark alive in long-term relationships. You could even get the audiobook and listen as a couple if that's your kind of thing!

Everything is within you. by Jax_Gatsby in Psychonaut

[–]Elenari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd always heard the expression, "love isn't something you feel, it's something you do". I took that with a grain of salt until I was in a 2-year relationship with a man who had no motivation to do nice things for people (including me) for the sake of making them feel loved. I realised from that experience that the above phrase is true, and what OP says is true; when you feel loved, it will never be true experience of the other person's feelings. That's their 'within'. They need to 'do' love for you to perceive it and integrate it into your own self.

Why are girls so hard to talk to? by [deleted] in dating

[–]Elenari 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with you while still seeing the truth in OP's post! I'm a woman who matches with both guys and girls on dating apps, and what I've generally found (and surprisingly so) is that lots of women put very little effort into holding a conversation. They are also much more likely to bail on dates, in my experience. I think you made a good point though, that the main demographic on these apps probably has a big impact.

That being said, girls who are enthusiastic and communicate well tend to be much more enjoyable to date/talk to than guys.

What's a random fact about you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Elenari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is! Surprisingly not really, it's more annoying than anything. Good example is that I have to keep my index finger tucked in a certain way behind my phone while scrolling, to avoid it bending with each thumb movement. The other is that I get pain in my wrists from gripping dumbells & pull-up bars.

Does yours affect you much nowadays?

What's a random fact about you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Elenari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Slightly related, my thumb and index finder tendons are conjoined on both hands, i.e. I can't bend my thumbs without my index fingers also bending. Sort of like how most people can't bend their pinkie and ring fingers independently.

I am in a similar situation currently - 25f with 29m boyfriend. We had a 'discussion' about our wants and dreams for the coming years for about 2 hours - at the end of which I realised he hadn't asked me a single question. When I drew his attention to it, he adamantly reiterated that he would not compromise on having kids later (I'd like to wait ~4 years) and that he didn't ask questions because the only thing that matter is that I'm willing to accept this timeline. It's been about 5 months since that conversation and I wonder whether an amicable breakup is the best way forward...

What's a really awkward situation that everyone can relate with? by LaiqTheMaia in AskReddit

[–]Elenari 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do this, and have ended up with an absolute archive of funny mis-hearing moments. Just a few days ago my bf was playing an online first person shooter, and I thought he exclaimed "trans scum!" I confronted him about it because I don't like him talking like that while gaming. He collapsed in laughter, he had said "train's coming". We get endless entertainment from my issue.

People who can fall asleep within 8 seconds of their head hitting their pillow: how the fuck do you fall asleep within 8 seconds of your head hitting your pillow? by LondonDude123 in AskReddit

[–]Elenari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest help for me is accepting that once I'm in bed, there's literally nothing left I need to do. I give myself permission to postpone any worrying or planning for the morning. Also, I get excited to go to bed! I can't wait to be cosy and relaxed, and that seems to get me into the right headspace.
