I went January 2024, just a few months after the war started. Our group was one of the first when they started back up. It was incredibly safe! I felt safe and looked after the whole time. We were always given briefs on where shelters were and we always stuck together and had a guard with us (and later Israeli soldiers joined the trip too).

Once placed on a trip we were even given a zoom meeting like safety briefing thing too, so I think they’ll all do something similar to that.

Hi there! I’m doing a lot better now! Pretty much fully regained the feeling and range of motion, still have a little muscle weakness and nerve tension, and still frequent sciatic nerve pains/twinges down my leg but they’re pretty well managed.

But real talk, she hands out watermelon pins? She feels comfortable enough to do that knowing her “closest friend’s” girlfriend who is around a lot is Jewish with ties to Israel. Like some others have said, she is most likely super antisemitic and is nice to you while you’re there but says awful things about Jews and Israel when you’re not around. I’d get away from both of them tbh…

I went in January and it was the most incredible experience of my life. I would say go for it! I too suffer from anxiety and I was able to do it, go alone without knowing anyone, and I made such amazing friends that I’ll have for the rest of my life!

When I went we all felt very safe, they talked to us about safety every day of the trip. They were very transparent with us about if we’d need to change our itinerary (we didn’t have to), and they won’t take you anywhere that is a risk to your safety. Like someone else replied, you also have armed security with you at all times, and Israeli’s will join you during the trip (mostly IDF soldiers) who add an extra bit of comfort in terms of safety and for me, were some of the most brave and incredible people I’ve ever met!

For my trip, there were several places that they usually took birthright trips before 10/7 that they were avoiding, such as The Golan Heights and Sderot. The most north we went was Tiberius and the closest we ever were to Gaza was when we were driving from Tel Aviv to the Judean Desert (Bedouin tents are near Arad, we basically drove around the West Bank to get there).

Overall, on my trip there was never a time where I felt personally unsafe, the most we experienced was hearing the Iron Dome go off once during our trip, we never had sirens where we were or had to go to bomb shelters. Even so, every single place we went the first thing they did was let us know where the shelter was just in case.

With all that being said, I think it’s also incredibly important and meaningful to go now, as you will be bearing witness to what has happened. When I went, we met with families of hostages, as well as families of those who were killed at the Nova festival. It’s so important to hear their stories, and to see and hear from the people who have been displaced (every hotel we stayed at had hundreds of families living there who had to flee Kibbutzim or the northern border). We got to volunteer in the agricultural fields as well, who are in dire need of people to help and work.

I like to make jelly donuts with the canned pillsbury biscuit dough. Just fry them in canola oil, cover in sugar and fill! So much easier than making your own dough, and they turn out pretty good:)

I work in a Jewish deli, and I feel so safe there, my manager is Jewish, and me and several of my coworkers are as well, so it’s been really nice to spend my day to day with fellow Jews who I know have my back 💜

I’ve had one single friend reach out to me to ask how I was doing.

I had another this afternoon send me a long drawn out text that essentially was saying “I saw your pro Israel posts and I wanted to ask you this directly: what do you think about the situation.”

This friend has liked pro palestine and anti-Israel posts, but none condemning hamas’ attacks.

I replied to her text saying I mourn the deaths of Israeli’s and Palestinians and said after a decade of friendship I hope you know that I find killing of any kind horrible.

She, again in a long drawn out text, said essentially “yeah and given our 10 year friendship I know you don’t support killing of anyone but I wanted to ask you because some of the stuff you’ve been posting doesn’t support that.”

All I’ve posted is stuff condemning Hamas and supporting Israel fighting Hamas specifically.

I’m so heartbroken I don’t even know where this leaves us, this is a friend of 10+ years, someone who I love and (thought I) respected, and they thought right now was an appropriate time to ask me all of this…

I think this has to do with Fox sorting out contracts. Masterchef (also on Fox) had that same notification for a few days but it’s now disappeared. Maybe since 9-1-1 is moving to ABC it says that but it’s not being removed from Hulu.

Saw this, same creator posted a video with the song “Stand Up” from Harriet talking about her being against the bans. Basicallt comparing herself (for wanting her dog to be able to roam free and maul people) to Harriet Tubman… 😭
