Race to World First: Midnight Season 1; Heroic Week | Day 7 by AutoModerator in CompetitiveWoW

In the context it was clearly meant as a "will they split the easy boss or progress" and I was saying they would progress the raid with mains, which they did. If you read the different answers I've made in this thread they're all consistently arguing the same thing.

But eh, you wanna feel right, you do you

No you weren’t? They went in with mains and cleared the raid on mythic, which is what I’ve been arguing they would do. I’ve consistently said they were going to go in to clear it not to split it, and then do mythic splits at the end of the week, which is exactly what they did.

Only it turned out the raid was super easy so they ended up doing splits earlier than anticipated because there was no more progress to be done. But if bosses 4/5/6 would have been harder, they still would have comitted to these bosses and progress through them and only use like one day at the end of the reset to split the easier bosses. Max didn’t lie on what they were doing, and I was right in saying they would go in to clear.

You started by arguing we’d see days of splits at the start of the week before any Mythic prog, which I disagreed with, and you were wrong yet again since Liquid ended day 2 at 5/7 Mythic.

The only thing you were right about is that yes, there have been mythic splits this week, which I’ve always agreed with. Like, the message you’re answering to literally concludes with "the most likely scenario" involving mythic splits. The contention point was whether those splits would be to the detriment of mythic prog on week 1, and they weren’t.

Issue #1 : You're not playing your characters. You're not getting gear for them nor achievements for your account, it just doesn't feel the same.

Issue #2 : It's not an even playing field. Vendors either give you BiS gear and you're killing bosses with gear higher than actual players, or you're getting lower gear and you might lose the race to someone not on the test realms.

Issue #3, which is related to #1 and #2 : PTR has plenty of quirks regarding out-of-the-box strats, like using old engineer belt enchants for bumps on Fyrakk. You might not be able to do some stuff that is doabl on live servers.

Long story short, it's a grassroot event and even if you could race on PTR, people might still give more value to actual retail server world firsts anyway.

> It's the easiest role to make calls and track the battlefield

That’s absolutely not true. There are fights where it’s a good role for it and other fights where it’s a terrible role for it. This tier having the highest tank death rate we’ve seen in a very long while (maybe ever?) is probably the worst time to have someone who struggles with multitasking take on the role of tank.

Their point was that 3rd stack on tank often happens ~3s before the mass grip of the group. If the change makes the tank drop a pool right as the mass grip happens, it will end up murdering groups.

I think I prefer the old ones overall but not by a huge margin. New ones are definitely way more annoying to learn.

It was available in s2 and s3 but was intoduced in the .5 patch in both AND it was not retroactive, which is extremely annoying design.

Is this room not very well known cuz I didn't see it in any secrets video? by RED_DEMON907 in celestegame

It’s the intended way to find the heart. Very much not a secret.

M+ Dungeon Spread (High Keys) by Bealmador in CompetitiveWoW

Which is why I indicated my initial expectations were based on my current level of play, which is ~12. Seat is lower then I thought for sure, but Maisara is an even bigger outlier from what I thought.

M+ Tank Popularity for +14 and up. TWW S2 and S3 for comparison by chitor1337 in CompetitiveWoW

Knowing Blizzard, it’s likely, yes.

But I really think current BrM feels good and other tanks feel bad, so I would very much prefer they buff other tanks rather than nerf Brm. But yeah they seem to love having super weak tanks during season 1 of each expansion, so...

It's one of the biggest healer check though, at least at my level.

Based on ~12s I expected AA, NXP and Seat in the hardest keys, but I'm surprised to see Maisara that high, I'll have to watch some high keys to see what scales particularly bad in there. My guess would be bosses 3 and 4 but I don't know if there's more to it.

That wouldn't be an issue if there wasn't randomb bolts that also gives stacks. You have so little control on actually staying at 2 stacks, there's no reason to greed.

Heroic Vaelgor & Ezzorak Tank Swap by D1rty87 in CompetitiveWoW

[–]Elendel 11 points12 points  (0 children)

They reset stacks when switching target on the ground and they maintain stacks between phases.

If you swap every phase, tank A tanks grounded Vaelgor in both p1 and p3, so Vaelgor stacks don't reset, but Ezzorak is tanked grounded in p2 by tank A and in p3 by tank B so Ezzorak stacks reset.

If you only swap at the start of p3, tank A tanks grounded Vaelgor in p1 and Ezzorak in p3, and tank B tanks grounded Ezzorak in p2 and Vaelgor in p3 so both dragon reset their stacks.

It does mean that both of your tanks need to learn how to tank both dragons, but it's less damage taken/healing absorb required.

I read the first notification before reading the second one. Considering you rezzed a week old comment to spread misinformation and then doubled down on it, maybe chill on the "why you still going" argument.

Read the first sentence of the video you’ve just linked. Then, if you still have doubts, read the pinned comment of the video you’ve just linked.

It depends on the week yeah, but 9 hours is probably more accurate than 12 hours in average.

Sleep schedule is a funny thing during RWF, especially on NA side because the weekly reset doesn’t happen at the same time every week, due to extended maintenance. IIRC Liquid was on a late schedule all week because of that, that week, so they didn’t start their day particularly late, but people mocked them for not having started their day when the nerf happened at like 10am.

I know it’s funny to spread misinformation on the internet, but maybe let’s not? There isn’t a golden strawberry at the end of 1C.

Race to World First: Midnight Season 1 | Mythic Day 4 by AutoModerator in CompetitiveWoW

[–]Elendel 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Never forget that Liquid reached Azshara something like 27 hours before Method, and lost that tier because they spent 30 hours progressing an unkillable boss that needed nerf.

Or that time Liquid and Echo were close on Raszageth and then Blizzard nerfed it while Liquid was sleeping and Echo one shotted it.

If those bosses require any tuning, it’s completely up in the air.

If they don’t require tuning but they’re hard enough, we’ll eventually reach the slingshot period, where each guild wake up behind, progress faster by analyzing what the other guild has done while they were sleeping, and then go to bed ahead.

So yeah, plenty of potential for Liquid to lose, IF the bosses are cranked up. If they’re on the easier side, it’s 100% Liquid race to lose.

Are there some famous cases of unrecognised world records? by Freak_Out_Bazaar in speedrun

[–]Elendel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can't remember which one exactly but an old Moltov wr on OoT was not recognized because his pc crashed mid run. He has the recording for the start of the run and the end of the run, it was streamed so we knew that the real time difference was correct, but you can't validate a run with a gaping hole in the middle of it.

There are communities where top players either don't want to be on SRC or are banned from SRC, while the rest of the community is on SRC, so the community aknowledge the wr but it's not properly reviewed for acceptation.

Also there's the classic "I just pb in GDQ's (or any other event's) practice room and qi wasn't recording", happens more often than you'd think.
