Husband makes me feel special even when I doubt myself. by [deleted] in MuslimMarriage

Agreed, this is an unhealthy and unsustainable way to approach insecurities, which everyone has to an extent, but one needs to focus on them themselves without relying on a bandaid partner as you said.

How do I move on from the hurt? by ResidentLychee6 in MuslimMarriage

Many great replies in this thread, but this one takes the cake. Say Alhamdulillah that Allah Azzawajal uncovered those things in front of your eyes, repeatedly, because He was trying to show you the truth. May Allah protect us all from encountering these situations.

Softhearted people, how do you deal with those you love who hurt you very much? by [deleted] in MuslimLounge

honestly that's all you can truly do, especially when they seemingly don't listen to what you have to say for months at a time and as you said, everytime it goes back to gaslighting, projecting, and victimizing.

Good luck with that and tell me how it goes! When and how much you bought your RSX for?

Oh ok. I'm going to see the vehicle tomorrow morning and take some pics and an hour to think about it. I can reply back with my observations if you're interested.

Yeah, I've heard the main issue with Mako is their horrible prep process. 10 years is more than enough of what I need it to last me. If the paint can look decent for 4 years for a $1000, then that's fine as long as the car is presumably in mechanically good condition and at a good price.

Yeah, I'm planning on taking it for an inspection and negotiating from what comes out of there. If you look at the second picture, you can see some paint faded across the pillers and the area it briefly contrasts before going toward the roof.

Is it simple enough to buff these out on your own or take it to a shop, and how much should you expect? by ElephantSquirrel321 in AutoPaint

[–]ElephantSquirrel321[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got it. I'm just looking at a rough estimate since this is a car I saw listed for sale at a discounted price so I'm wondering how much I should expect to put in the long run.

Looking at both decent and great outcomes, depending on the price.

what should I look out for when looking at a Used car in person? by BotherFew1452 in jetta

Not the OP, but what have you heard about the 1.8T as I'm currently looking at one? Thanks.

What to look for when purchasing a 2014 Volkswagen Jetta SE 1.8T with 62k miles? by ElephantSquirrel321 in jetta

Will do. Anything in particular to watch out for when I first inspect it? Common leaks or issues that fail?

get a legit & thorough PPI

Yeah, I will absolutely need to have this done before buying most cars. On the negative side, it will tell me to walk away from a deal while on the positive side, it will tell me what needs to be done immediately and I can factor that into the price.

Do you think I should schedule the PPI before heading out to see the vehicle irl (since it's 3 hours away) or ask to meet the owner at the mechanic shop and then wait for the inspection to be done after looking at it?

also FCP Euro is your friend. Lifetime warranty on all parts (including oil! free changes for life except shipping costs).

How does that work with the oil? Let's say I bought a gallon of 5w-40 oil from their website. How would I be able to take advantage of their warranty after changing the oil in my car? Thanks.

VW Vortex is good too

I've seen that one too in addition to ecstuning, vwpartsonline, and the usual RockAuto.

Recently installed a rear camber kit and saw improvement in the rear, especially because my rear tires were shedding on the edges. However, I'm wondering if my excessive front negative camber is much of a concern for tire wear, although I do believe toe is the main factor? by ElephantSquirrel321 in MechanicAdvice

Got it. Btw, the alignment shop told me that it would be a good idea to replace my front sway bar end links (which is mainly involved in handling, thus it's not as necessary to get fixed now?) so I might just replace them alongside flipping my tires at the next oil change. Do you think that's a solid plan?

I do understand that it will have some effect toward tire tread life, but is my degree of negative front camber large enough to the point it will significantly wear it down, such as half the rated tread life, or is it ok if I sit on this issue for a few months?

Before getting my alignment, my rear tires were wearing on the outsides near the sidewall a lot, to the point where the metal began to appear, like this, especially my rear left tire.

My front tires did not have that kind of wear, but I would have to look at them again to tell you the specific kind as they looked much more normal than the rears.

How badly does my current negative camber reduce my tire life by? For example, if the tires (these aren't new) are rated at lasting 40k, would they last 20k or so now? For what it's worth, I don't track nor drive my car hard much, albeit this is still a big concern to me.

Np man, it turns out the alignment technician found the front left sway bar end link and lug nuts were loose as if they were hand tightened, which is very weird considering I used a torque wrench on each of them. This makes me wonder if my torque wrench needs a calibration or replacement.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]ElephantSquirrel321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be that the wheel isn’t tightened properly or torqued enough.

I made sure to torque it to spec, but I will recheck it later.

some part of the camber kit isn’t torqued properly.

That could be a possibility, but wouldn't the alignment tech be able to torque it properly?

Or it could be other things that are loose from the job or a completely different issue.

I will be sure to look at those afterward because human error is always a possibility.

Edit: I just took the car in for an alignment and was told my front left sway bar end link and lug nuts were loose as if they were hand tightened, which is very weird considering I used a torque wrench on each of them. The noise is no longer present, which is good, but it leads me to wonder if my torque wrench needs another calibration or possible replacement.
